Hey guys hows it going? I am new to the 7 forum normally spend most of my time in the m3 one. Got some good questions for you guys.
Have a 1998 7 series in canyon rot red over black buffalo leather. Need some input on some things here.
1- dinan is having 50 percent off of software for motor and trans. Local dealer quoted me 500 installed or thereabouts on the 7. This seems pretty cheap to me is it worth it? The car has 100k on it should i worry about the trans breaking with this many miles? Anyone have both and could post their thoughts on the software for both?
2- where is the best place to buy clears for the 97-98 body style? Oem or aftermarket dont really matter to me as it is a daily not a show car?
3- I picked up a set of oem sport springs for a good price? Which struts should i use? Bilstein or oem? If i go bilstein which ones, HD or Sports? Thanks guys hope to speak to more of you guys in the future- Jason

I had both the stage one and the trans. done at Zimbrick BMW Madison WI.

Engine chip definately gives improved throttle response and and a smoother power range. Seems to have gained more power between 4,500 rpms and 6,000.

The best mod though out of both of them was the trans. upgrade.

My 2001 has 101,000 miles on it, though I had the trans. changed by recall at around 60,000 miles. We'll see how long the trans lasts, but shifts faster, provides improved control over the auto shift when in manual sport mode.

If your planning to install the Dinana cold air intake, pay for the stage two software now, because the Dinan 50% sale ends at the end of July.

Including labor Engine stage one, trans. upgrade cost $531.00 and some change. I did purchase the stage two software and the way that works is you just have to pay the difference between the stage one vs. the two
($51.62).

Cold air intake is going to be sent hopefully within the next two weeks, but apparently there has been a problem w/the aluminum manufacturer of the cold air intakes (out of business) so Dinan is supposidly trying to buy back many of the cold air intakes for the definately the sevens for inventory.

Who knows, all I know is I cant wait till it arrives.

If your planning to install the Dinana cold air intake, pay for the stage two software now, because the Dinan 50% sale ends at the end of July.

Good info on the SW.

However, Dinan site says sale runs through August...

Yes, *Perk recall.

The reason I bought the stage two now, I was told by the stealer that the sale ended July.

I didn't look, but if Dinan is advertising end of August it most likely is.

Go to the local dealer have them enter your vin or if you already have the vehicle history froms look for the trans recall yourself.

This recall I believe helped with the fwd clutch something or another to work better and/ or not fail.(i.e. make the car move forward):cool
