Saw this link on one of the Volvo forums today, not sure if it is recent or not. Shows the potential of a R. Heard the guy had ecu and exhaust, not sure of any mods on the M5.

No that is the s80t6. Which has a shitty transmission cause they farmed the tranny out to GM.

Edit cause I thought this was different video. This guy has intake, 3.5inch downpipe, 3inch downpipe back, and tuned ecu. All volvo 5 cylinder motors (aka whiteblocks referring to cause they are all Aluminum) sound like that.

This one is good too. http://videos.streetfire.net/search/volvo/6/B22B00F0-1C7E-4217-B150-310B631BBA46.htm

A 4 cylinder volvo beating up on a e36 m3. Just to let you know both cars are autotech tuned. Autotech is to volvo like Active Autowerkes is to BMW

Too bad Volvos are so dern unreliable. One of my co-workers had to return her '04 CPO'd S60 because it was obviously not "Certified" very well. That's just one story. I've heard so many stories about Volvos... I'm not saying Bimmers are SUPER reliable, but I think they're sure better than Volvos.

That doesn't take anything away from the S60R, though; it's still a bad-ass car!

Volvo's are NOT reliable. The last reliable car they made was the 960 in the mid 90's. That thing never breaks. The 1995+ 850 was ok after they screwed it up so bad in 93 and 94. Everything post Ford buyup is terrible except for maybe the first gen S40..which is more a Mitsubishi than a Volvo. Anything with a T6 motor you should just burn now. I worked for them for about 3 years as a service advisor and will never own one as a result of the constant problems they have. I will say that we didn't have many issues with the R cars while I was there, but they were still new at the time. Since then I've heard of the same old things going bad on them in half the time you'd expect them to.

I guess I've been lucky so far, 16K miles and no issues with my R. After reading this i'm glad maintenance is covered for another few years on the car.

S60 R's have the most comforatable seats ever. I think they are a blast to drive. I like the active chassis settings too. what a difference between the comfort setting and the advanced setting. Fun car. not sure on reliablility though.

I beat the shit out of my R for around 15k miles while I had it...........no problems. I think they are reliable, there are a few electronic gremlins the new R's in 2004 had, but after that they are pretty good.

And so you all know, I'm pretty sure the R in that video had a 425hp turbo upgrade. Not really that hard. New turbo, intercooler, tuning, done.

And yes, the seats are the most comfortable you'll ever sit in. Also, one of the best stock stereos you'll ever heard. The new C70 has a full Dynaudio system, if you know who they are you know thats the shit. I priced out Dynaudio 3 ways for my R's front doors..........$1400.

Here is an interior pic of mine. This is an '04, after that they have more aluminum in the interior, better looking.

yea there's no way that s60r was stock. The e39 M5s have 400hp don't they? the s60r stock has 300 and is awd meaning it would launch well but the m5 would pull hard after 1st is strung out.

no that R was most certainly not stock, but keep in mind its a turbo on the Volvo so its NO slouch on the highway.

Here is a link to a V70R (wagon) doing a 0-200 km/h run. Drive admitted he did not do the best of jobs but it will give you an idea of what the volvo's do.

0-200km/h (120mph) in 18 seconds is about e36 M3 territory (maybe just a hair slower) not bad for a volvo.
