I'm looking at potentially picking up a somewhat neglected 2002. Biggest trouble that the seller told me about was that the clutch isn't working, pedal will go down, but just pushing against the return spring, doesn't actually disengage anything.
I'm wondering what sort of troubles we'd be looking at to get it going again, things I should check into, linkages, leaks, etc. before coming to any conclusions on this.
He also said it's got some rust issues, but if I can get it going and driveable, I don't mind working those out a bit at a time so long as I can drive it in the meantime.
Anything else I should look out for with these ?

Any car that has been sitting for a few years will need both brake and clutch MCs looked at. The seals go with lack of use and that means dead pedal. Beaner7102

This one has been sitting for a while, he said he'd run it for a few hours a year, however it probably hasn't rolled in quite a while.
He had said that the brake side of things worked, I'm just wondering if it'll even be worth looking at, although, it'd be easiest to tell that, after looking at it.

very cheap to fix. The hydrolyc slave cylinder and its pistomn seized inside the bore from a lack of use. Too much water accumulatio and the seals got swollen from old fluid and the air got inside the system. The pedal should either be super soft or just rock hard. Thats a $40 dollar part + brake fluid, etc. You can rebuild it too. Just go there and unscrew the little bleeder screw on the slave and bleed it just like brakes. It should work unless its the master cliutch cylinder that needs to be bench bled.
You can power shift the car if you match the engine speed perfectly. Just like a truck.

Hmm, that's some encouraging news, actually.
I'm going to see about looking at it, it is about 2 hours away though is the thing, so it'd be something of an ordeal to go see it.
It's potentially been sitting for about 10 years or so, besides rubber, is there anything I can really expect to be completely shot ?

no, only gas/oil/brake/any other fluids + make sure there was no water present in the motor (i mean a blown head/manifold gaskets or the car was floded in some crazy ass rain), which could cause rust inside the motor. Other then that u may get a very nice vehicle for little money. Also there may be carb problems because of all the gunk and rubber seals/float getting mushy. If it doesnt run OK the first time dont be discouraged. I recomend spraying some carb cleaner inside the carb and flushing it well.
If the storage was good it will run just fine.

This is encouraging news, I must say.
It's pretty much a question of how much metal is left at this point, he's said he runs it ever now and again, so at least it's been going.
I'll snap some pics when I'm out to see it.
