Hey guys,

Just got back from a night drive and I ended up racing a 04-05 WRX. It appeared to be stock and the car also had temp tags for whatever its worth. Now there was some guy in a Cavalier with straight pipes out aswell. I saw the Rex and downshifted. The cavalier thought I was revving at him:rolleyes and revved back. The Rex heard me also and bit the bait and decided to run. We get to the Turn around area and the cavalier stops in one of thel anes on the two lane road and the Rex pulls up next to him. The Cavalier honks three times and they go. At this time I'm behind the Rex and I am WOT. I have to get off the gas twice while behind the Rex because I was afraid I was going to rear end him. After a few more seconds the Cavalier is long gone and I move over beside the rex. At the end around 100mph I am next to him. Does anyone know what those are rated for HP? I was pretty happy with the results considering I was behind him and got off the gas twice. Anyways, does anyone know what the 04-05 WRX's are rated for HP wise?

220 to the Crank for the new rexs......They are very good from digs, 4 wheel drive......They are ok from rolls....A friend of mine has one and i end up beating him by 1.5 - 2 cars from a 40 mph roll until 120

Sounds about right, I'm pretty happy with the out come especially when my car has a measly 189hp:stickoutt .

i think the new ones have a 2.5L 230hp engine.

line up with him next time. do it from a roll. who knows how much of the kill is a result of drafting.

good race!!! i remember that some of the stock old wrx's (2.0) engine dynoed around 180awhp. def. not out of a modded 325's range.

THats a good Idea about trying to do a re-race. If I see him around I will deffinatly try. Also is the WRX basically the same engine wise from 04-06?

From 02-05 stock WRX's had 227 hp. they run about 5.4 0-60 times which is pretty close to accurate. i had an 02 and took it from completly stock to somewhat modded. they are fast cars and with a few simple bolt on's are really fast. my car was around 280hp to the crank and 285 ft/lbs of torque. it was definetly faster than most cars around my town.

Good job on racing it. i don't know if drafting had something to do with it like said above or if the guy couldn't drive it. he probably should have pulled on you a bit more than than. IMO.
