So I was taking out a B7 S4 6spd that was in service for high knock sensor readings. Drove it all weekend in an effort to use up the bad low octane gas that was in it. (it was our car btw, not a customer's car) Anyways, one of my neighbors has a new 530i, so we went from about 5-10mph then WOT.
He beat me. Not by much, but was slowly pulling from me after 2nd gear.
No the 530i is not a faster car than the S4.
My point is, that sometimes, gasoline can help you win or lose races. Crappy gas makes some cars perform REALLY badly.
Once I put in the high octane stuff a few days later, it returned to a normal state.
So all of the stories you see here of cars that should have lost/won to other cars, gas could be the culprit.
