Okay now check this out. I went to Passport BMW today so they could look at my M3. While in the parking lot I noticed this cool Electric Blue Mini Cooper S! I mosey on over there and start checking it out. As if by magic, a salesman appears by my shoulder, and asks me if I want to take it out for a test drive. :buttrock I'm gone. I take her out on 495 and let her stretch her legs a little. It's no M, but it's a hell of a fun car to drive. I take her back to the lot and hand the guy the keys. My car isn't going to be done from service anytime soon - so I start talking to the salesman on what payments would be like for the Mini. I waffle a bit - not trying to sound too interested. He then tells me to take the car for the day while my M is in service. I say thank you and hit the road.

Long story short - I bought her and I'm loving every thing about it.

I'm going to be bugging you guys real soon about her so get ready.

peace

The weather's crappy right now. I'm going to see if I can get some decent pics.

Took the Mini out for an extended test drive last night. It's fun as hell. It's going to be my daily driver so I hope they're solidly built. Have you guys heard anything good/bad yet about the Mini line?

It's funny how such a little car can attract sooo much attention. This little car has already gotten me two phone numbers. How funny.

Oh yeah... I haven't gotten the manual for the car yet so I'm not sure what some of the buttons are for. I got the fully loaded model.

Question - what is the button right under the parking brake?

The Beastmaster

The button under the parking brake is to reset the low tire pressure indicator. Any other questions?

As for getting attention, the MINI is very good at doing that. It does get tiring after a while. One of my dancer friends likes to hang with me and now she wants one.

I get alot of looks, but I've never been approached by any females about my car. About 4 or 5 guys have come up and started talking to me once... one guy was with his wife in their PT Cruiser and she said "see, I told you we should have waited!" :biglaughb

Any more questions let us know :D

The button sounds like the run flat tire monitor and welcome to the mini side of the fence.

Ah cool. Thanks.

Just got back from a date with one of those girls that was checking out my car. She knows I have an M3 as well. I asked her what car she wanted to ride in - she PICKED the Mini - NICE. It pales in all aspects to my M3, but it is fun as hell to drive. I'm digging it.

Oh yeah - what is the EML that lights up in my speedo everytime I start the car?

Thanks fellas - I'm having a blast!

That's not too good to have that light on. It could have to do with the gas cap. Check to make sure it is on tight and closk into place. The light should reset shortly.

It's not good to have it on??? It only happens at start up. Kind of like in my M3 where all the indicators light up then go out - just like that. It never comes on again. I was just wondering what it's for.

Does yours light up at start up then go out?

The Beastmaster

Whew! I though your light just stayed on! Yes, it is normal for it to be on upon startup.

I should get the camera out. The weather is going to be clear with a few clouds present :) .

I'll wash her then take some.

She's fun as hell to toss in the turns.

Awesome, kap! And that's one of my favorite colors for the Mini Cooper S, too!! Enjoy it, man!

At first I felt kind of weird driving it - I felt like everyone was staring - and they were. Plus, a macho guy like me in a Mini must be a funny site to see. Hehe.

But, I've already gotten two phone numbers, (from girls of course) because of this car.

It's all good.

kap,

Just watch out for the leaking coolant overflow tank. It'll leak at the seam.

kapolani
11-22-2002, 09:38 AM
I've been reading about that. I've also read somewhere that the coolant changes colors - dark murky brown. Some say that it's just a chemical property of the coolant and others fear it might be some deeper issue.

Where is the coolant tank?

I'm assuming it's that white tank right behind the engine perched over some type if heatshield below.

The Beastmaster

That's correct! Just look at the heatshield if you have some murky white stuff on it. At first I thought it was car polish.

Does it have any BMW badges? I think it should if it doesnt

HollyRN76

No real BMW badges, except under the hood in the fine print, and in the door jams. BMW wants MINI to be able to basically stand on its own. The MINI is a blast to own...Dayum its a sweet car. And once you meet other MINI owners and start having the meets and the rallies...it just makes it all the better. We're making a run up to the Tail of the Dragon May 1st thru the 4th. I can't wait to get my MINI on all those twisties... hehehehe.:evil2

Nice. Chicks that dig cars. Top it off with a little "can't wait till the twisties."

You had me at hello.
