Just an FYI for anyone looking at E28's.

The 533i has an advantage over a 535i. Performance is about the same or small enough that the production differences would equal it out. The 3.3L in the 533i tends to rev better than the 535i. Not sure how to explain it but the throttle feels more connected vs the 535i. I think on the 3.5L it did not die down so quick when the throttle is released due to emissions. The 3.3L just feels very connected to the throttle. Which makes for a more fun car to drive IMO and it is noticeable between the 2 cars. I have owned a 533i, 2 535is, 633i and 635csi. Both the 533i and 633i were just rev happy. Instant throttle response which just added a small bit of character.

Classic car that I wish I could buy new again.

Mike

Appreciate the info and the bump. I believe that the differnces in throtte response in the 533i are due to the 14 lbs. OEM flywheel from the factory, and the more aggressive 272 cam, both of which came in the 533's off the assmebly line.

Aren't both engines running at 8.0:1 CR? Maybe that is why the 3.5 seems a little laggy compared to the 3.3. I wonder what type of power you can get by going towards 10:1 CR.

AFAIK, the 3.2 in the 533i is 8.8:1, 14 lbs flywheel, and 272 cam stock. Factory spec'd .3 seconds faster in the quarter than a 535i.

Thanks but I'm trying to get OUT of debt, not back in. :D Also the fact that my driveway has 5 cars in it now... my neighbors will really hate me. LOL

Will somebody PLEASE buy this car? Make me a fair offer, nobody's tried to make a fair offer, I've had 1 offer so far. If everybody here thinks the car is worth it, why isn't it selling? Am I asking too much, alot of you are saying no.

Price and worth aren't the only considerations for a purchase like a car. There's also the question of additional insurance, storage/parking space, etc. That, and even if it's a good deal, some folks just may not have the cash on hand to buy it right away. :ponder

So while there's certainly plenty fo good feelings behind the words of encouragement, they probably shouldn't be taken as potential offers. :az

That being said, good luck with the sale.
