View Full Version : Swordfisher's 22K mile M635CSi *lots of pics*
evlgt85 07-09-2006, 07:51 PM Adam is looking for insight on value for this car. I'm sure he'll be in here in just a moment to talk about the car a bit more. I'm simply the picture poster :)
Enjoy!

e24mpwr 07-09-2006, 08:02 PM Nice car - unusual color (haven't seen Karmin Red in the US). Your interior color is Lama Leather (same as mine (http://www.bigcoupe.com/gallery.php?id=28&parent_id=20)). Send/post the history & details of the car and I'll give you my thoughts.
A similar car (Dark, ruby red, Lama interior) with 27K miles sold in Northern VA a couple of years ago. Had 28K miles on it (now that I look at my records) and sold for $28K. Had I not just bought my car, I would have set a land speed record to go buy that car.
Just from what I see, if I were selling the car, I'd put it up for $34K and see what happened. There aren't many buyers for these cars in that price range, but it is certainly a very, very nice example.
The best E24 board I've found is the gang over at Roadfly (http://bimmer.roadfly.com/bmw/forums/e24/). I'd get to know them! As I said, a number of Shark guys in the Miami area...
swordfisher 07-09-2006, 09:13 PM Thanks for posting the pictures. I bought this car out of an estate in 2002. The original owner ordered it on his honeymoon and went back to the factory the next summer to claim it. It was driven in as a Florida weekend car in the late 80s. The car has been properly stored indoors since. It still has the original cosmoline and wheel weights. I'm not really trying to sell it, just curious of the current market. After seeing that 10k mile black US car looking for $50k, it made me wonder.
swordfisher 07-12-2006, 06:51 PM I'm on the fence about detailing out the engine compartment. Its never been done and is a bit dusty from sitting around unused for many years. When we recomissioned the car I was very careful not to damage any of the little stickers or clips and whatnot under the hood. I just know how perfect the motor on my driver looks all shiny and spotless.
PixMan 07-12-2006, 08:13 PM It be worth fiddy bucks. I give you it, you give me car. K?
PixMan 07-12-2006, 08:27 PM OK, I know...that's a REALLY great example! Nice car, should get a LOT of cake for it. I think the best theing to do is to get it professioanlly detailed, that would add thousands to the price you could get for it.
Ol'6erGuy 07-12-2006, 08:49 PM Beautiful car!!! As far as detailing goes, as long as it isn't greasey, a trip thru the car wash shouldn't hurt anything.
One thing I noticed. It's funny, since I own two euro 635's (even though one is a total wreck), how these cars are federalized. I look at yours and see the side markers, one in the air dam and one just above the rear bumper. Both of mine had the front turn siginal modified and a rear light hogged in to the rear quarter. Just an observation, maybe we should start a thread on federalizing and the undoing of said blastfamy of these cars.

I totally agree, I love the little touches my 33 has that my 35 doesn't. My parents are moving to Germany in a week (military) and I will try to get them to send as many things in German as possible for it. Luckily the 35 has the new bumpers and the side markers don't bother me as much since they are lower profile than the usuals. I just upgraded to blackout E30 smileys and ran the lead from the parking lights in the blinkers to the LED upgraded city lights. I am even considering a Euro instrument cluster, but cant decide if I want to get EL, or just upgrade with LED's. I really wish I could have the larger 70 liter gas tank too...
Duncan G. 07-16-2006, 02:42 AM I totally agree with the notion of starting a de-federalization forumor thread. I own a 1985 M635csi, and they hacked off the flanges on the header collectors to install a catalytic converter when they brought the car over from germany. They also added a non functional evaporative emission control system, front and rear markers, and a rear brake light, and a few other stupid changes. Its been one of my main goals to return the car to its original condition, and I have repaired most of the infractions so far. I just purchased the necesary hardware to repair the headers, and then I will install the full Supersprint exhaust system which is waiting on my garage floor to go under the car. Concerning Swordfishers gorgeous car, I would expect a beautifull example like that to sell for at least 30K to the motivated buyer (If the mechanicals are all good).

If your wrecked one was red with black leather and a rear end collision I would say you had my friend Matt's dad's old car. I have fond memories of that car to this very day. Too bad he had to total it in his own driveway!! :(

No, It's grey with black sport interior. Sad story, the head had just been re-done, new hoses, all the fix-ups. The guy was going to use it as a daily driver to go to school. After finishing it, he was test driving it and less than five miles from his house, a woman pulled out in front of him and totaled the car. Much of it's soul is going in to my car.
