I dropped by a BMW dealer here in Vancouver yesterday to see a M Z4 couple in person. Looked beautiful. Anyway, the salesman said that both the coupe and roadster can be ordered with SMG. Is this true? In the States, I thought the only option was 6 speed.

Not true. Manual 6-speed is the only choice.

Not going to happen in the near future. There's no room in the transmission tunnel to accomodate SMG electro-hydraulic hardware.

They'll need to find another transmission that is narrower and can handle the same or more HP.

nah only the six speed is available....smg was nothing but trouble in these cars anyway it was about time they did away with it

BMW decided not to put all the technology into the Z4M, unlike the M3 M5 and M6.
so yeah...6 speed only...
