That is the way the pulley is supposed to look on the shaft..There is ~ 1/4 inch of spacing, between the pulley and blower housing...with the pulley fully installed and tight on the shaft :)

the gap between your fan and pulley is so close! Mine is exactly like that and im worried that the fan might hit.

I know that the c5 Z06 with 405 HP and no idea how much to the wheels traps at around 115.

i am running 26 inch tall tires (stock was 24.4). i don't know if it is right but it is what i can get the car to do so far. and island dragway is ~700 feet above sea level.

I saw a guy lastnight trapping low 12's with a c5 Z06... fast car and hot as hell!

my car ran a 14.3 at 98 mph (first run ever) reaction time was .6. the s/c is awesome

btw this was at cecil county drag way in maryland.

after going to 6 parts stores to find a new belt, i found out that i have to special order it. so it will be here on tuesday. i ordered one size bigger then i had cause last time i put the belt on it was so tight i had to pop it accross the ribs for it to go on.

Check your install very carefully, especially the alignment of the belt, and that the front bracket is tightened down, etc. You should not be shredding a belt like that, so check things very carefully before you go running too far and toss another one.

Drew tighten up the tensioner, its unoikely to chew belts commonly. Seems like its walking a bit due to alligment issues.

i dont want to steal his tread.... but my sc belt broke 2 days after installing it.. we took out the entire s/c bracket out and reinstalled it again to make sure everything was lineing up... the belt jumps one groove out... any ideas why this is happening?

Drew have you tried spacing the blower pulley foward? Looks like it hits the head of the bolt directly in front.

yeah i think it's cause i don't have the bracket that connects the main bracket to the oil filter housing. that is going on now with the new belt.

The s/c belt pulls the SC forward due to the tension on the belt that is necessary to keep the belt from slipping, and the bracket arm going back to below the oil filter counters this force.

If you are jumping one groove, you may have a misalignment problem if the brackets are correctly installed. The blower pulley and the crank pulley may not be lined up properly. You cannot do anything about the crank pulley, but you can space the blower pulley. Spacers are typically 1/8 inch and you can stack them if necessary. The issue is usually whether a spacer is installed that should not be there or whether one is missing that should be there. Only someone familiar with your particular kit can tell you which of the two it is.

belt is on and fits perfect. i ordered a 080558 Gates this time and fits great. i will put some miles on it tonight to stretch it out a bit and then once i re-torque it i will be off and running again.

You should buy a few extras and keep one in the trunk.
