It finally got here. Hyper Blue MCS. Ordered the car at the end of January, and I took delivery about two weeks ago. Everytime I drive it, it puts a smile on my face.
My question is this: The dealer told me to bring it back in 16000 Km for the first service. They said there is no 1500 km oil change for the car. Is this right? Can't believe they don't do a free oil change after the initial run in period. Do I go ahead and have it done in any case?
Thanks

Congrats on the new Mini!
I would not think there is any need to change the oil so soon!
Let the engine cycle properly before changing the oil for the first time.
I wuold change the oil after break in (even though I didn't because I am lazy), just to get fresh oil in there and hopefully get rid of any metal shards that could be in there from factory. But I'm about to hit the first oil change for free from the dealership and I think my car is doing fine.

I was wondering this myself. If I schedule a service shortly after break-in is complete, will it still be free of charge?
I've always been taught to change fluids after break-in, so I guess I will see what my dealer will do for me. All I really want is oil and AT fluid changed.

Every dealer I have dealt with will only change oil for free when the service counter says to.

Ah. So I would have to pay if I wanted to have it done prior to the service counter? Very interesting. I'm just gonna have to trust BMW's engineers I suppose. LOL

I went ahead and changed the oil after the break in period.

They use oil? I thought they just changed the batteries every 16000km?:D
