View Full Version : Any good BMW dealers?
Bayrische318i 07-07-2006, 06:25 PM Does anyone around metro Atlanta know any reliable dealers or services for BMW? I'm looking for a place that I can put my car to service since my car is having problems and I would like to get it fix with a limited budget.
Thanks locals

Budget = don't take it to a dealer.
Dealerships hate poor people.

Only if they ask to VOR something :laugh
One time this guy needed his car serviced.. he needed 2 tires... and he decided to not buy them because he didn't have the money (On a E46 M3 :rofl). We don't even mark up tires... :rofl
Car poor FTL. :rofl
We only charge 10%+ retail on stuff we VOR. :dunno

Yes
Bayrische318i 07-08-2006, 01:27 PM How much is an avg spending on service?
$900.
If you want to say what sort of service you need, I'll pull a more specific number out of my ass. :rofl
Bayrische318i 08-06-2006, 01:40 PM Aww...man, most of you guys were right! BMW dealerships are a rip off! They didn't do anything to my car but only checked the codes and charged me for $100!! Damn bitches lied to me about this and that having problems.
RRocket 08-06-2006, 01:56 PM the parts guys at the store in gwinnett are total noobs, i know how to use the TIS and ETK software better than they do
I asked for a part for my seat one time, and he was like, it doesnt exsist, I told him where to click, and wow! it magicly exsists now!!

First I am not defending whatever part idiot you dealt with but it is more the dealers fault and not the actual person you dealt with.
The dont pay those guys squat and they dont treat them good enough to keep someone once they have learned the system. It is true in many fields, something as simple as a data base and someone that knows how to use it are actually rare. Be it car parts, pipe parts, computer system parts etc. Also keep in mind that as an enthusiast you might know more about your particular car than the guy who considers it a job and ONLY a job. Just out of college I thought about working at a BMW dealer since it might have been a cool job, 10 mins of talking to them and I knew no way in hell would I consider it.

Bayrische318i 08-06-2006, 09:57 PM Are you serious? I thought about working at a BMW dealership like during the summer before classes start up again. So...what did they do to make you change your mind?

So..what's the ETK software about? B/c I downloaded one online but never transfered it onto a disc yet.
///mzeasy 08-06-2006, 11:16 PM well, i don't have a whole lot to compare with, but for the small amount of things needed done i've gone to the nearest... hank aaron in union city
qidm67 08-07-2006, 12:14 AM it really helps to go to realoem.com and look up part numbers then bring it to the dealership when you can't find a part ANYWHERE ELSE or you really NEED the part.
pelicanparts, turnermotorsports, ebay, bimmerparts, are some great places for cheap parts and great quality.
atl530i 08-07-2006, 12:46 AM Dealerships are really only good for a few things, mainly oil filters that actually fit. Also for buying new cars also :)
If you also need used parts, http://www.strictly-german.com/ (http://www.strickly-german.com) has a ton of used parts and a few locations in the south east.
RRocket 08-07-2006, 01:56 AM The ETK, is the parts database, kind of like realoem.com, comes with all the pictures and diagrams, part numbers, and there is something you can do to get the right prices too, thats what the dealer uses
where as the TIS, is a technical information system, you give it a symptom, and it tells you what might be worng

True, very true,
However, one time I needed to have a bushing pressed onto my control arm, so i asked the guy up front, surely you have a press and the mechanics do this all the time, "no sir, we dont do that kind of stuff"
im like at a BMW dealership there is no press? they have to do control arm repairs on the new ones :confused
so, i go ask the guy who sold my father his car, and he says yea we do that, here let me go do it. he went back to the shop, and did it in under a minute, and then proceeded to tell me the guy at the front desk was a dumbass...:D
so i say this, part of the job, is to satisfy the customers needs and wants, and to not even go back to the garage and ask hey do we have a hydrolic press? that shows complete lack of care for the job or customer:nono

Actually the ETK is exactly like realoem.com just with better pictures and a better interface.

325i_Dan 08-07-2006, 05:17 PM Actually our highest paid parts guy (not manager) makes in the 6 figures :) Also, I am the newest member to the team, and everyone else except one other has been there for the minimum of at least 4 years.

Exactly.
You will be lucky to find a service manager at a car dealership making anywhere near six figures.
Exactly.

Yes. Although if the techs are paid flat-rate they can rake it in. $100k+ would be easy at certain places. But I am not sure how common that is.
On a side note, is united hiring? I have experience! :redspot
s14realm3 08-07-2006, 11:11 PM so where is the car?? there are places in gwinnett, cobb, fulton, .......... where are you
WytLytnyn 08-08-2006, 11:20 AM A parts guy making six figures??? :confused
+1 WTF?
BlackWolf 08-08-2006, 05:17 PM I think I picked the wrong profession?:confused

Me, too.
95m3Lightweight 08-08-2006, 06:23 PM 6 figures? lol no friggin way. I would not believe that until I saw multiple years of W2 forms. I have known a couple parts managers and none of them were near that number by a long stretch. The job itself would not require someone with that type of salary range to begin with.
Mike
Doctor Wha 08-08-2006, 06:23 PM Me, too.
Why? :dunno
The company didn't approve your reserved parking space? :pimpflash
:D
Edited to delete bad link. :P

Dealers? Good ones?
:biglaughb
BlackWolf 08-09-2006, 01:38 PM I have nothing but greatness from United BMW on Alpherretta Hwy.
Jeff at the parts counter and Ashley (guy) service manager.
Tell them the 740i 6spd sent you..;)
325i_Dan 08-10-2006, 05:32 PM Matt, I think we can always use countermen, haha. I'll ask my manager and shoot you a PM as soon as I get the chance.
And yes, the service manager, I know makes 100K+, as do all the managers. I am not sure about the shop heads.. the guy I am mentioning who makes an assload w/o being a manager, has been there 20 yrs. This is what I've been told by everyone, not that I'm checking paychecks :rofl
