Maybe. I don't know how much your deductible is but it's not that expensive. I think it was 220 for my friend to get his repaired. They also come to you.

Edit: When I say not expensive, I'm comparing it to the dealer price.

did either one of you call richardson auto glass? They will drive to you, or you can go to them to save some money.

Damn man, don't try to make an insurance claim on it! My rates are high enough as is.

You can get a decent aftermarket glass for less then $250 installed. Thats small beans and you will LOVE looking through a virgin unpitted glass.

ARE YOU SERIOUS?

after all your bitching about the wheels?

first of all, if my insurance covers glass breakage, then i will use it.. that is what i have paid for.. didn't you get upset because you didn't feel like you'd truly have what you paid for?

second, i've paid into the insurance companies for 14 years now... i think if you want to bitch about your rates being high enough you can go look at fraudulent claims, uninsured motorists, and the towing companies... glass breakage is the least of your problems for rate hikes

Someone is wound up pretty tight....

Either way its $250 installed or less. What is your deductible? I'm willing to bet its just as much or more, thus making a claim (which will likely affect your rates) is a bad idea.

Typically insurance will only cover it if say a dumptruck dropped a rock out of its load or something like that and you got the plate number or pulled the driver over.
Since you said "put a nice crack in mine today..." that makes me think that it wasn't caused by a definative other party, but perhaps an obligatory highway stone, or a oopsie on your part.

Either way.. you can call and ask, but its likely not in your best interest to file a claim with your own insurance on this one.

my insurance has a 0 deductable on glass breakage, but if I file a claim for it it impacts my discount. If I go a year without a claim, I get 10% off. Thus the cost of the windshield and the discount offset each other, but in the long run, I come out ahead, and I don't have to mess with the insurance company.
So Jordan is right on this one. It's easier to just belly up and pay out of pocket.

Oooo you're lucky.

For the record, I called my insurance company just to check on this.

If I file a claim for the a broken windshield they will replace it at 50% regular deductible ($500/2 = $250) and my no claims discount goes away raising my rates etc. I didn't ask for a specific number on the rate hike.. but any is bad.

Most polisies have a glass deductible which is usually way less then your regular deductible .

With that being said however ...the auto glass replacement idustry is a big scam and because of this most companies will be able to bill a higher amount to your ins company so as to cover your entire deductible .

But if you two clowns want to skip all that hasle altogether I can send my glass guy your way .
Without checking with him I would say that his prices would be near the $150 per for you .

LMk and I'll call him lon Sunday and check the $$ and see if he's available .
If not then I can set him up for Monday definitely .
