Also, the video I have seen (the one with the black 540) has a SS straight pipe I believe as well.

i have viewed 2 video...both of them has the Eisenmann race only with stock resonator on....which is also ( not yet break it completly ) but already way louder than mine

dont forget the exhaust is going to get louder after a while. The muffler needs to be "broken in" so to speak. You could always replace your stock resonator with a smaller bullet style resonator. Its not going to be as loud as with a car with NO resonator but it make the exhaust louder than it is now. Might be a good compromise between quiet and F'ing loud.

As far as the cats, just get under the car when its cold and bang on each cat with your fist. If you hear it rattle around then you will need new cats. You should be able to bang on them and hear nothing- atleast thats what you want to hear.

If you're referring to Fast5's car he has no cats or resonators, also your exhaust needs to be broken in. When he first had his installed with the resonators and cats in it was really quiet too. Did you get the quad setup?

It will cause a loss of power. Its pretty much like strangling your exhaust. A clogged cat creates a bottleneck in the exhaust system which reduces exhaust flow and creates more backpressure than normal.

no...not FAST5's car....his car sounds like a F1 instead

the clip i saw is from a member here and bimmerfest....both has stock resonator and cats in place ....same muffer as mine but way louder ( not broken it too )

so is this the reason why my 540ia do 8.3secs from 0-100km in S mode ???

my friend has a same car but do 6.2secs from 0-100km

If you want the Eisenmann to scream get rid of the factory exhaust and re- pipe the whole thing. Add some hi flow cats, get rid of the resonator and you will free up the beast.

Ask me how I know...:evil2

Throughout the duration of the break in period, the tone of the exhaust will vary. Once the exhaust is broken in, the tone will stay consistent. Break in period is 500-1000 miles.

Do you know anywhere locally that will throw on hollowed cats? Would that be too loud with the eisenmann on there or would hollowed or no cats be fine? Straight-pipe too loud?

Straight pipe with an Eisenmann Race would be very loud. Did he take the resonator out already?

be sure to get 02 simulators for the 02 sensors after the cats...otherwise you'll throw numerous codes.

I'd be interested in hearing it. I can't go w/o Cats, but I'd like to hear it. Do you have a clip of what it sounded like before just for comparison?

Sorry... I meant a sound clip of the eisenmann exhaust with your cats. Going over to assist a friend with his Eisenmann today so I was wondering if there would be a difference from hearing yours w/cats versus his w/cats. That way, you could 've narrowed your problem down to the cats being clogged or maybe the needed 500 + miles for the exhaust to break-in. As for my newly installed cats...so far so good. The sound is A LOT better. Seems to accelerate quicker as well. Haven't done any 'real' spirited driving yet..but I plan to later today so I'll keep you posted!

Ha! Yep! Unfortunately, the install didn't go as smoothly as hoped... I'm not sure if BMW5MT will post on here, but for guys ordering the Eisenmann exhaust...make sure it's the EXACT one you need for your bumper. He ended up getting the one for a M-Tech bumper and it didn't fit. He already already went through with the cutting of his stock exhaust and everything. Now the car has to sit for a month with no exhaust. The exhaust for the stock bumper is on backorder for 3 weeks or so. :mad

how can y0u tell is your exhaust is for mtech bumper or not ???

Stone511
07-17-2006, 10:36 AM
For the M-tech bumper the tips are positioned more to the right on the exhaust. If you're notching your stock bumper the tips need to be more to the left.
