-u have to search for the 2002 5 series BMW 540i / its black on black!
It also has a K40 radar intergrated...how are those?
uNcLeWiGGLy 07-06-2006, 08:26 PM the car looks nice but has a fake right side exhaust pipes dont even attach to the tiips... seems like an ok deal test drive it mangg if it was manual i would be willing to make a trade
4500 RPM 07-06-2006, 08:30 PM Wow, an M5 badge on a Steptronic 540iA. Cool. :rolleyes
It's a non-Sport, so it doesn't have the seats, trim, or steering wheel Sport stuff.
I would pay about $3k less than that. And while I don't own one of these cars, my gut says to spring for the warranty, depending on what they cover. You can really use it to your advantage.

and it's over priced and you're just going to keep your 530 since you're only 17. think of it this way: if the person went to all the trouble to fake it as a M5, don't you think he beat on it as well with those who tried to race it?
325i_Dan 07-06-2006, 11:04 PM I would not pay that price.
racerx0911 07-07-2006, 01:09 AM if i get the car i wudnt be payin that price...the questions are wat im concerned about!

i beat it on my own... nobody races me (or at least i don't notice).
YOU'RE 17 and the 540 will only get you in trouble. don't be stupid and get the 540, show off and total it. keep the 530 and learn to drive. i'm sure you don't know how to do that unless you do take HPDE instructions.
don't be stupid. you've got a nice ride already; don't get greedy.

options??? get a KIA.. it's loaded and you get money in your pocket. how's that for options?
learn to drive. fuck options. options are options are options. they come and go as you change cars in life. you will definately drive something with a very special option if you are diabled from a wreck.
and think of it this way: you can take your friend's jeep out on the twisties.
jonmcc 07-07-2006, 02:58 AM Biggest downer about this car IMO is that it has no sport pkg...Dont think I could deal with a 5er without it, I mean it doesnt even have steptronic...
With that said, it is a pretty good M5 replica, I'm impressed that whoever had it opted for the staggered M5 rims and didn't get all 4 the same like most people do, and the suede headliner...they really went all out. I think it looks pretty hot.
Asking price isnt too bad especially with all the "extras" they added...like 4500RPM said $3k off wouldnt be a bad deal.
My friend has a K40 2000 in his tahoe and loves it...is has pretty good reviews on radartest.com
As for the warranty, Id love to know what warranty company youre talking about. Whats the time/mileage cutoff? I had a $2200 great lakes warranty co. 4yr/unlimited mile "full coverage" 0 deductible plan on my '99 LR discovery that barely covered ANY of the repairs. Only covered ~$1200 of the ~$11,000 of repairs that were done b/c it was all "wear and tear" in thier eyes. REDICULOUS. Needless to say I didnt spring for a warranty when I got my 530 and havent needed one yet knock on wood...
jjd228 07-07-2006, 09:02 AM Wow, an M5 badge on a Steptronic 540iA. Cool. :rolleyes?
i really just dont get it... how pathetic and cheesy do you have to be to do this? all jokes aside... its a sign of some major psych issues.... get a life man
drw1926 07-07-2006, 11:04 AM Taken as a whole, the car actually looks pretty nice...but the whole M5-wannabe thing is pretty pathetic, especially considering it doesn't even have the sport pkg. And that abortion of a front license plate frame would be the first thing I would tear off...Jesus...it's a Bimmer, not a Cimmaron...did they ever hear of "subtle"? That thing is huge. One small thing in its favour is it has the comfort seats, instead of the sport seats (an extra-cost option).
Bottom line, it looks like it's in good shape, and reasonably well-maintained. A pre-purchase inspection is a no-brainer here. But as Dan pointed out, I can't imagine a 17-year old buying/driving this thing, but that's your choice (and your parents'). I would definitely knock off $ for the M5 poser crapola, and if you did end up buying it, lose that stuff...all of it...before you even wash it. :rolleyes
strayv 07-07-2006, 01:32 PM So you want to buy a 540 that's been modified to LOOK like a M5, but has no performance enhancing mods?
Look kid, just spend the money on a personal trainer and beef up those 17 year old arms, and trust me, that will get you laid alot more than a fake m5.
I Love Curves! 07-07-2006, 01:59 PM Wurd!
haha
El Kabong 07-07-2006, 02:09 PM Ok, you're 17? I'm gonna be a little harsh, and I'm sorry, but LEARN TO SPELL. Read a book or something. I hope you're failing English with that kind of grammar. It's terrible, just take the extra couple of keystrokes, and spell the whole word. As far as the car goes, it's kind of sad that someone took the time to make it look that way. Anybody who knew what you were really driving would probably rip you a new a-hole, and if you're worried about the chick factor an M is not really gonna raise the level of trim you're gonna get over the 530 you have now, becuase most 17 yr old girls aren't gonna know what the hell an M5 is. The future of America ladies, and gentlmen.
jjd228 07-07-2006, 02:22 PM we're doomed
Brewtech 07-07-2006, 04:07 PM slam your 530 and make it like no other. Damn kid have you ever stop to think that maybe its not your car and maybe its lack of confidence in what you drive? put a little gangsta lean on roll, and maybe, maybe you'll be aight. I used to roll a bug in High School and I literally had my pockets overflowing with pu**y.
jonmcc 07-07-2006, 10:30 PM FYI the "abortion of a front license plate frame" is part of the K-40's laser jammer/shifter system...so even though it's really f'n ugly it does have a purpose.
also I don't really remember racerx mentioning that he was trading his car to try and pull more ass...maybe he just wants something different than what he already has, I know I'd like to trade up my 530 for a 540 in the future since I get bored with my cars after 2 years or so...
ohnoes 07-07-2006, 11:49 PM Just curious: how do you have ~ $30,000 worth of trade-in + cash to buy this thing? Let me guess: your parents are subsidizing this.

i think different people have different views on things like this...i wud get a M5 but wudnt want to fork over all the money in maintance...that said...i wud do things to my current car to make it like a M5...my preference! all the things done...i see it as a plus!

All I can say is sorry...I don't write instant message style in school for your information.

Will the 540 have 3K in repairs in 100K? YES.
Will an aftermarket warranty cover the repairs? NO.
READ THE FINE PRINT IN THE WARRANTY TO SEE WHAT IS AND IS NOT COVERED.
Ellicit 07-16-2006, 12:19 AM @ 17 i drove a civic :mad
HammerG26 07-16-2006, 09:32 AM at 17 I was driving a 1979 Plymouth Volare station wagon - long live "THE WHITE KNIGHT" - of course, there were benefits to having a station wagon...

life is too short to drive crappy cars!
Master530i 07-16-2006, 11:05 PM at 17, you have a pretty good taste....
arg77 07-17-2006, 05:55 PM Buy the warranty. Depending on how long it is determines if it's a good value. But, you could safely say that within 5 years 2800 will pay for itself and more if you include the 'hassle' factor of paying those 1k repair bills from time to time.
That being said.. don't buy a 'fake' and don't make a 'fake'. It's a BMW not a Honda. As well, in my opinion, you're better off putting 5 or 6k into *performance* enhancements on a 530, meet up with the dude who buys that fake and smoke him!
..... use skill in a 6-cyl!!
