I have been planning to get a e46 M3 for a bit now, but with the new 335i tt coming, which would be better, e46 M3 or new 335i tt when released?

Depends on how you drive and what you want. The torque curves of these engines could not be more different. If you want a smooth, refined car with buckets of low end, you want the E92. If you like to go hunting for your horsepower, the M3. The E92 will be the much better choice for most people.

Yea, I think the 335tt is the way to go, I just canceled my order for a 330i and placed one for a 335, it should be a while before I get it : (

The E46 looks great but it is more a less a dated model...not to mention the high revving I6 that was maxed out when it was designed...the TT will be much more driver friendly and mod friendly [hopefully]...sign me up for the 335Xi...

Thanks for the opinions, anyone have any reason to go with the e46 M3? I guess that is what I should have asked, cause I am really leaning for the 335. two more delimmas: should I get a 330i now till the 335 sedan comes out and pass the 330 to my wife? or should I wait drive my 328 now, get the 335 when it comes, then get the e92 M3 when it comes and pass the 335 to the wife, hmmm decisions, of course the last one is a lot of money to have tied up in depreciating goods, guess that it the delimma.

I'm facing the same decision you are. Choices are a) E46M3 b) 335 or c) wait for the E92 M3. I'm tending toward the 335 for most of the reasons listed here, plus the fact that the new M3's not coming out until early 2008, apparently. So I'll likely lease the 335 and see if I want to switch to the M3 later on.

I just got a brochure on the coupe yesterday...there's no mention of them making a 335iX, only the 328. I also don't think they're going to build a 335 sedan, either.

The brochure probably will not list future models, but the iX is 100% coming to production, sometime in the spring of next year. The 335i sedan, I think is based of the current E90 platform with a exterior minor redesign, (ie. dual exhaust) and will not get the aethestic refresh until 2008.

Hmmm. I can find a little bit on it on Google, but nothing "official"-looking. They all quote some fall-winter 07 production, which is when the coupes are hitting the dealerships. Seems we would have heard something more official on it if it's that close. And I know they wouldn't want to reprint the brochures for a model coming out a few months after the ones that are listed.

You could be right, but I'm skeptical.

If the engine is your only focus, it will depend on your driving style.

There are other things to consider... feel... steering, brakes, suspension, trans, etc, etc.

Drive both cars and see what suits you. After an M car, I get frustrated every time Im driving a 325 or 330.

Personally... I think the new coupe is about as unpleasing to the eye as they could make it. I'd go after an 05-06 E46 before an 07-08 E92 without much thought, based on asthetics, alone.

The 335 will be the tuners choice with all the mods the engine can take! I want a touring one!
