My friends car needed to be detailed really bad. Black VW Jetta. We worked on the car today but did not finish, (waiting on Ups for my PC pads) so I will post the finishing pic's tomorrow I hope.

Wash, clay, wash, Medium cut polish, fine cut polish to remove any hazing, wash, Pinnacle paintwork cleaning lotion, then Klasse SG is the plan.

Got as far as polishing her hood

Here are the before pics:

These hard water spots would not come out with hand washing.....Yeah I know :( Good thing its not a bimmer tho :stickoutt

Posted about this a while back, the claying got a lot of this paint transfer off and once polished I think it will look good.

This will be my first full detail so I am trying to do a good job. Will post some after pic's when I am done.

Goodluck...

One thing from experinece (though hopefully you will do better then me) is that VW paint is VERY hard, and I could never get all the marring out with a PC. I have always had to go to rotary to make a worth while dent in the cobwebbing. I look forward to seeing the after pictures...

VW paint is indeed very tough wo work with, however, it does stay nice for longer than BMW/Merc paint.

Ok, took a little longer then I thought. It was a good learning experience tho, for one I should of used a heavier cut polish to start with.

I did not get every swirl out but got most of them. I was able to get all the water spots off. Next time we do a detail on the car my goal is to get every swirl out, once I learn more on detailing. But for my first full detail I was happy with the results.

Here is the after shots, kind of a cloudy day tho:

All that paint transfer came off :D just a few scratches from that wood beam she hit. Oh and a dent.

Very nice. With out a rotary, your not going to get everyswirl outta a VW's paint. I would just chaulk it up to nice work done... Very nice.

Good stuff! If you were able to remove some of the swirls and nasty water spots with your PC, then I'm sure you will be able to tackle the rest of the blemishes with your PC as well. You just need to put in the time. Don't let anyone deter you or tell you you need a rotary.

BTW, what medium cut polish did you use? What speed? Pad? How many passes?

I used Meguiar's Mirror Glaze 1 medium-cut, followed by #2 fine cut polish, speed 5, got some pads off autogeek (orange pad), and did each area 3 times, 1-2 times with the fine cut polish.

You did awesome. I'm not trying to deter you about saying anything about a rotary, but from my experince you will not be able to get the anything deeper then light swirls out of a VW's paint with anything less then a rotary. I think you did a very nice job with a PC though...

Cheers!!!

Do you get to spend any time under the bonnet in exchange for all your hard labor?

Great results! It really just takes a solid amount of time to do it right.

The last M3 I did I booked in 14 hours total (int & ext job)

Needless to say I saved the car another year for a repaint and re-upholstering.
