Hm... OK, i'm out of the eagle 1 tire dressing (the one in spray, OTC @ walmart), and i wanted to try a new one. I went to american tires (tires.com) locally to buy some new tires last time and i checked out all of their tires on display, all shiney (of course). I asked that what they used, and they said they used Meguairs. Great. So i kept that in mind. I told them that i was using eagle 1, and they freaked out when i said that. Why?

well, they told me that there was some kind of dye in the tires that tire company uses and that eagle one is a petroleum base grease/gel whatever you want to call it and it strips the tires of the color. It'll look good for a little while, but once you wash it off, the tires turn a little brown. That's exactly what i had experienced with my car, and haven't used it since. The thing with eagle 1 was that it was great for the value, but after that talk, i'm changing my mind. So now what?

Well, i need some suggestions for OTC and a great value of the different tire dressing that you can buy that works great, and won't take off the black pigment in the colors (non-petroleum basically). If you guys can, tell me what you use and how you like it. Does it make the tire turn brown? Where did you buy it?

I'm right there with you... I bought some Meguirs and while the tires are just sitting still they look fantastic, but the spray is flung all over the side and back of my car, even after wiping down... I'm looking for a good shine that doesnt force me to wipe down the sides of my car every day

I used megs extreme tire shine. Its in like a tube thing and comes with an apllicator thing. I have compared it to two or three others and it lasts the longest out of what I have used. I think I may try peanut oil. Heard that works really well.

Don't you guys wait until it dries?
When I treat my tires, it's always before putting it to bed.

The thing with meguairs hot shine is that it comes in an aerosol bottle, so it's not one of those controlled sprays... well it is but it still gets all over. Luckily i dont' have a drop on my car so i can overspray just a bit, but for thsoe running 18+ rims plus lowered cars... it's almost impossible to get it all over the paint. Probably covering the wheelwell with a towel first then spray? too much work!

If you want professional results, use what pro detailers use, When I had my shop, I used solivent based dressing. That stuff works 1000x better than the garbage you can buy at store. It's typically purple or blue and you apply it with a sponge. It dries and stays on for about 2-3 weeks.

I am sure AutoGeek carries it.

Put it on a sponge applicator and wipe. No overspray and better coverage.
I use the Meg's HS and works great.

Anybody got an opinion/ recommendation on Zymol tire dressing? I have it and it leaves the tires looking brand new without the wet/shiny look.

My Chemical Guys VRT dressing leaves a very matte shine. Just a good looking black color

I used Meguiars Insane Tire Shine. A little on the pricey side, but the shine was indeed insane :stickoutt

FYI, tires don't have black dye. The black color is the result of the process a tire goes through while being manufactured. The apparant "removal" of black dye is most likely the cleaner hazing or drying irregularly.
