View Full Version : Got pulled over with a valentine!
djromski 07-02-2006, 10:42 AM Heres the deal,
Was driving about 80mph next to a car that was going about 85mph,outa nowhere valentine goes off and turns off with a Jam error showing,so i slowed down to bout 75 while the other car was still proceeding at its speed, I look in my rear view and a wa state patrol car is coming behind the car that was next... when the cop got right next to me, he got on his intercom and told me to pull over...so i did... he didnt pull me over he went after the car that was speeding next to me/bad timing there was another wa state patrol cop that pulled someone over on the side where i pulled over and i guess the cop told him that i was speeding. Cop that was already pulled over came up and said ur were caught on a laser at 76. Gave me a ticket for 70 in a 60 and told me to slow down!
What should i do with this ticket??????
Z3inGH 07-02-2006, 11:09 AM Pay up or risk not getting your D/L renewed and ending up in Collections. Going to court and telling the judge that you had already slowed down to about 75 surly won't win you any points and may get you fined for the whole 80 mph.
In WA the second officer writing the NOI is acceptable and in court both will be there.
Best advice, toss the radar detector and start using the cruise control. Much cheaper, oh, and don't mention the radar detector if you go to court, it's instant death.
943184dr 07-02-2006, 11:46 AM keep the valentine, i'm not really surprised that happened with a laser. That is the one that the valentine does work with. I would just give it to a traffic lawyer, pay about $300 and never see it hit your record.
Tom
djromski 07-02-2006, 12:02 PM IM keeping the v1, its been working like a charm.. think cop was lil bsing...Im definetly getting a lawyer for this...
SiGmA 07-02-2006, 02:32 PM How do you figure the cop was BS'ing? Your V1 went off, and you said you were going 75mph, and the cop said 76mph via laser. Sounds like the typical pull over and ticket to me. When your V1 warns you, you should drop to under 10mph over the posted limit. This helps a lot ;)
you have the 1.8 v1 right
Andres 07-02-2006, 04:49 PM You got lasersed, end of story. V1 or not if you get lasered and you don't have a jammer you are pretty much done. The V1 did what it's supposed to do. Lasers are instant on / instant off.

Aodhan 07-02-2006, 06:26 PM It sounds like the cop that issued the ticket was not the officer that tagged you. Get a lawyer take it to court and it will get dropped.
radarbusters.com is for teh win
SneakyMike 07-02-2006, 07:10 PM Hooray for Jammers!

call me up ive got a good lawyer for you
:)
EEEEeeee36 07-03-2006, 07:29 PM *cough*shamless plug *cough* There is a list of Traffic Lawyers in the PNW FAQ thread at the top of the Northwestern - US Forum. Lots of good ones. I'd recommend Mitch Greene.
BTW if a cop says you were going 76 and writes a ticket for 70, he usually puts "76" on the back of the copy he gives to the courts so the judge knows he cut you a 'deal' already. I've seen people say "Well I wasn't going 70" and the judge comes back "No, you were going 76 according to the officer" ... you get what I mean. A traffic lawyer is your only defense at this stage.
BEL has a great new jammer... that and the Escort ZR-1 "Shifter".
EDIT: quoted by accident; default Quick Reply setting. :rolleyes

LOL, no, the shameless plug was for me. I created the PNW FAQ thread... it's an inside joke. ;)
Actually I didn't even intend to quote you... I'll edit that! Sorry.

mitchelrl 07-05-2006, 11:47 AM Roman, this is Mitchel, I bought your clears from you.
Give Jeannie Mucklestone a call, she got my laser ticket dropped like a bad habbit and I was doing 103 in a 60. She should be able to fix it. If you don't like her prices, give Jag Matto a call, he should be able to take care of it as well.
anakbabe 07-05-2006, 01:08 PM By the time your V-1 picks up a hit by a laser, it's already too late.
your best bet is hiring a lawyer and call it a day. GL bro.
Landerholm 07-11-2006, 02:02 AM Ive got Jeannie Mucklestone hired too. $350 for a ticket down in olympia (only one that would cover it). It should have been over buy she just got the date extended another 2 months. Didnt like the judge or something lol.
RPD 2T3 07-11-2006, 06:00 AM FYI before you run your mouth about people not reading the thread, get you facts straight, Aodhan is right. It will not hold up in court and this is coming from one of your local LEO's.
And dont think I'm just the only LEO on this site, there plenty of us lurking on most of the forums. We are not haters, just looking out for the jackasses on the road driving dangerously and putting others at risk.
...and now I will get off my soap box and go back to my donuts.

BLah blah blah/// freeway was clear and open and i wasnt putting anyone at danger by driving straight at 76mph as the cop says sooo

Talk about not being able to read. I was not directing my statement towards you. WSP loves to cite anyone they can get. Theres no point speeding on the Interstates and freeways that WSP patrols, its just a crap shoot. Find some middle of no where po-dunk country roads to drive on.
