do a valve job with the head on the car?

umm...its impossible. The valves are on the inside of the head...thus the head MUST come off.

If you are talking about adjusting the valves it is simple. But if you want to do the valve seals and do the seats a few people told me that they ran some sand blasting media through the engine and the valves lapped themselves and they didn't even have to take the head off.

wouldn't that same sand blasting media destroy the bores and all the other moving parts inside the engine as it lapped the valves?

Of course you can do the valves with the head still on the car. However, unfortunately, you will have to pull the rest of the engine.

(Personally, I like the PCP theory)
