Tonight I noticed that when I was accelerating hard in 1st and 2nd that after I got above about 3000 rpm's my car didn't seem like it was accelerating as fast as usual and that something was slipping. I think this is the first sign of needing a new clutch but are there some other things I should check also?

How many miles on the clutch?

No clue because I bought the car used and have put about 13,000 miles on it myself, but the car does have about 238,000 total miles.

I've felt the same thing in my car. I don't know what's causing it, but it sounds like the same type of problem... I don't know how old the clutch is, but I've put 10,000 miles on it since owning it, and it's sitting around 185,000 total.

Anyone know what this problem could be?

A clutch will first manifest signs of slippage at higher RPMs. Try to punch it at higher rpms and if it is slipping, it should be somewhat obvious at that engine speed.

Also, about 2 weeks ago I replaced the transmission mounts, but I don't think that would cause something to happen.

Ok, thanks. That pretty much describes what I'm experiencing then.

Is it possible that a differential that is going could cause similar symptoms? The reason I ask is because just in a couple of days it seems to have gotten worse, and I don't think a bad clutch would decline that fast.
