I want to paint my m3 moldings to match my car... I used krylon black plastic paint before, but the color doesnt exactly match, that paint wasnt as dark as the 668...

so I wanted to paint it the right color, and dont want to pay pay a shop 100+ bux to paint the moldings... where can I go to get it?

also what clear coat should I use for it?

and lastly (i didnt search yet) but are there any threads to painting your moldings with spray paint (or maybe a 'how to spray paint') DIY/Thread? I know the idea behind it and its pretty simple, but maybe there are a few tips I can get from it...

thx!

hmm just searched around a bit... ppl reccomend not to use spray paint and get it done 'right'

how hard can it be to paint a straight piece?

not like i'm painting some m3 mirrors here with lots of tight space and curves

its not that its hard, but that spray paint just isnt as strong as automotive grade paint sprayed out of a hlvp gun and etc. What you can do though for your moldings. I would first wash them well with dawn soap and water. Then buy red scotch brite and go over the moldings until they look dull/you scuffed every spot. Then clean all the moldings with rubbing alcohol. 3 coats of primer, sand it after it dries with 600 grit wet. clean again base till fully covered then clear. with the clear in the spray cans it requires alot of material to make it not look like orange peel. so you really have to lay the clear on thick. its a flat surface so it shouldnt run easily.
