Hey guys,

I have a 1985 BMW 528e with 56,000 miles and the rear speakers (original to the car) crackle when I increase the volume of the stereo. I was wondering if there is a quick fix or solution to this problem and/or if there is a recommended speaker to fit the stock location that will install with NO drilling, cutting or altering to the original package tray? Any help would be great! I'm NOT looking for a fancy - gaudy speaker, just a nice sounding economical unit.

you speakers are starting to fall apart. Any 4x6 speaker should work as long as its not a plate 4x6 speaker. Go with a coaxial system. pioneer, polk, alpine, etc

thanks for the reply...

Do I need to replace all speakers in the car or just the two rear speakers on the package tray?

I would be careful and remove the plastic surrounding, Take a look at the speaker and see if there are any tears in it. Usually if the speaker has a tear in it, then you will notice the popping. Other things that would cause that is if you are putting more power through the speaker then suggested by the MFR.
