I hope I bought a good product. I just bought this on ebay.
Dension Ice Link Plus I20-BMW-T IceLink BMW MINI iPod, BMW DSP Kit Also Included.

Is $190 a good price?

I thought about it, but it is a fairly involved install, very limited and slow,
integration is questionable, and you (im guessing) are still stuck with the factory stereo.
I just upgraded to an alpine 9857. Got it from crutchfield, so it came with a freee IPOD adapter (one cable). install was straight forward, sound was vastly improved, ipod integration is flawless, fast, and fully controlable.
buying this new unit brought my bmw into the 21st century. you should resell the ice link (poorly reviewed on several sites) and jump on the new head unit bandwagon.

I just installed one of these. It's fairly simple and straight forward. I haven't noticed any slow response. It may take you a while to learn the interface but overall it seems to work very well. Read the included material and check out Dension's web site for additional info.

I wanted to keep my 540i pretty much stock. I don't like the look of a replacement head unit. So I decided to go this route.
MSS325,
I am glad to hear that you have had pretty good experience with your install. I thought of just getting a aux in cable but I like being able to use the steering wheel controls etc.

depending on which HU you have (most of them will work) you can get an integration piece from PAC called the SWI-X (universal) SWI-ALP (alpine) SWI-ECL (eclipse) etc. and it will let you integrate those controls into your aftermarket deck. usually the piece goes for ~$70 and takes about 2 hours to install and program.
