I personally really like it. Only that sucks about the e90/92 is how they're starting to just blend in with other cars. For me they stick out because I can see a Bimmer from a mile away but I saw an e90 the other day and commented on it. My friends(all non-enthusiasts that know nothing about cars) said how they didn't like the new BMWs because they look just like all the other new Japanese cars. I just thought that was interesting since I've never heard the non-enthusiast point of view on them.

guess, the pics you've seen is only temporalily, I am confident the actual car when launched will be great! All BMW M cars already have great reputation for great designs ...

Exactly. How many new BMW chassis styles take instantly with the entire BMW crowd? There's a subtlety to BMW's designs that most appreciate not initially but over time IMO.

I think the E46 M3 was a hit... I know i liked it right off the bat. Still has the 'classic' BMW look...

I do like the E90s A LOT. But I have to say, it does kinda have a space ship type feel to it.

Still, I would like a BRAND new M3. Just hope they dont do chrome around the windows. (think E46 non-M vs. M window trim.)

i saw one of these on the road with its entourage of 2 other dealer bmws. i tried to turn around and catch up to it so i could get a better look/hear it but traffic didn't allow :mad

i wouldn't have minded running against it too :devillook

i went to the dealer afterwards and asked around, but nobody appeared to know anything about it. those wankers are just keeping it from me! grr.

As someone who has worked with test mules/prototype vehicles, trust me on this.

This car will look great. All the bodywork on that car is simply meant to cover up the actual shapes. The hood is just sheetmetal riveted over the center. The side skirts are just strips of plastic glued on to cover the curves of the actual side skirts.

Lots of the interior is probably non-functioning or cobbled together. The car probably has some electrical gremlins.

It's not meant to look like a production car, because it isn't. Do the car a favor, don't form your opinions yet! I think it'll turn out great. :buttrock

None of the M3s since the E30 M3 embodied the same spirit, what's so freakin' different about the V8?

The original M3 came with a 4 cylinder engine. To truly "embody" the M3 spirit the new E90 should come with a 4 cylinder engine as well. At least they can say with the E92 M3 they've finally returned to the M3's true roots by bolting 2 inline 4s together to make the V8. :lol

Test mules are not a fair indication of the final appearance of the e92 m3. However, we all know the design direction BMW has been taking. Their current offerings may be, "forward thinking," but, in my opinion, look sterile. All cars are becoming homologous in their design features. That's why it's hard to tell the Japanense cars from the German ones. Has anyone seen the new passat or jetta? All manufacturerers are trending toward the tear drop, wind tunnel look. Extrianious features that lend character, are found to be obsolete in todays design studios. It's the nuvelle cuisine, less is more philosophy. It's sleek, it's flame surfaced but, lacks that certain something that hooks your emotion. I know change is sometimes hard to except. It takes people time to warm to new designs. All I'm saying is that with these new designs theirs so little to latch on to emotionally. That's just my honest opinion, obviously everyone has different tastes. I'm sure some people love the new designs.:)

more cameraphone pics. Someone needs to take a nice video of how this thing sounds. Now that it's got a V8 hopefully it won't have the rasp of the e46.

I remember seeing the e46 m3 test car in santa barbara years ago as well... that test guy has a pretty good job - i think he lives in hope ranch - anyway the car ended up looking much nicer and the wheels he had on the car at the time had nothing to do with the final wheels on the production version

if the test for the e92 changes as much as the test for the e46 did, it will be amazing...

Wow, an ugly car, especially the rear-end and those goofy rear quarter panels. Yet another BMW miscue.

How on earth do you fugg-up an M3???? :dunno

It will have blistering performance, no doubt, but so will lots of other better-looking cars out there.

man that design sucks. It'll be a great performer, but this just goes to show what i've always believed, which is for M3 styling, we've got E30 > E36 > E46 > E92 ....BMW has really gone bland. I'm buying a Boxster next time.

As far as I'm concearned, I think BMW screwed the overall layout of the car. IMO the wheelbase seems to long. The overall stance don't have the BMW
M3 Signature. Heck the car don't look Germany. Do they offer Manual Option or that Tip-Tronix Crap?

Hopefully they will make better improvments along the way. I wonder if this car was designed in the US?
