I got two tickets from a State Trooper yesterday on the way to a meeting. I got cut off in traffic and I used the shoulder to bring my car to a stop about 800 feet or so from where three troopers were shooting radar. I might have been on the shoulder all of 40 feet. I never passed anyone either. The one trooper gave me a ticket for driving on the shoulder, he asked me why I was on the shoulder and didn't even wait for my response.

To make matters worse my registration was stuck to the back of the dealer atlas in my owners manual case and he gave me another ticket for not having my reg card with me. It took me like a minute total to find it. When he came back over I showed it to him and he said he already wrote the ticket.

I already called the local Barracks to try to file a complaint on how it was handled but I doubt anything will come of it. I am def taking both tickets to court. I have one point on my license for speeding (I-70 West) about eight months ago. So in order not to get screwed on this does anyone have any suggestions, recommend a good lawyer? This whole thing really bothers me because for once I am not guilty of the charges.

When I got the speeding ticket all I could say is that I was speeding, not to it. I was wrong on that one, but this time I feel this guy was just out to get my in the book. Help!

Welcome to the "Smooth Operator" program.

At least it ends tomorrow.

"Two more waves of increased regional enforcement are scheduled for July 23 to 29 and Aug. 27 to Sept. 9."

Operation: Fund Raiser is more like it. I hope there aren't any State Troopers in Maryland that wonder why they have a reputation that is less than great.

You know whats ridiculous about this whole thing, I run into more problems on the road caused by WOMEN than by men. For god sakes every time I'm on my way home from school or just driving in general, I see at least five potential accidents all caused by women being stupid. I could honestly vent for hours about how many times I have had to avoid an accident because of a woman's mistake. Just the other day I was coming home from Old Town Alexandria merging onto the Beltway, and this women was seriously going about 40mph and looking to merge onto a highway where everyone is pushing 80. Not to mention she had about 6 cars behind her (including myself) that she was also putting in danger because of how short the merge lane is. So to continue the story she decides to merge immediately into the middle lane still going about 45 mph. In doing so, she cuts off a huge tractor trailer traveling at about 80 mph and he has to SLAM on his brakes. Thinking he wasn't going to be able to stop I had to pull over to the shoulder so that he could take my lane if he needed to. Thankfully nothing happened, and sure enough the woman driving was completely oblivious to the situation.

Well to get back to the point, I believe women not men should be targeted and ticketed for all the stupid shit they pull while driving.

Sry about the long post I'm at work with nothing to.:)

The message the Troopers want you to get is that they would rather you hit the asshat that cut you off rather than use the shoulder to bring your car to a safe and controlled stop. Nice guys. I am taking this stuff to court without a doubt. I won't pay the $40 fine on principle alone.

On a side note I can postpone my court date at least twice right? The stop was made in Baltimore Co. if it makes difference.

http://www.alpersteinanddiener.com talk either to Warren or Andrew Alperstein. Warren got my friend off of a 102mph in 35mph with just one point and worked some magic on a bunch of other cases. Their office is in downtown. Tell them that a friend of Gadi Briskman's recomended them to you.

Tom,

Thanks for the info, I am making the call today. I saw several State Troopers over the weekend, I gave them the stare of death as they lazily sipped on their "liter of cola." I don't hate cops, my Dad is retired Baltimore City, and I have several friends that are Baltimore Co cops.

Can anyone explain why most (not all ) State Troopers act like one of the following: a) Were not breastfed, b)Raised by wild dingos, c) had an uncle who continually touched their "no-zone", or my favorite, d) all of the above?

No problem. They are always sitting there towards the end of the month. Just stay in the slow lane, you'll be invisible.

They also like to sit on the extra big shoulder(usually by the left lane, but i've seen themm on them on the right side too) with their trunks open on 695 right around exit 20-23.

I didn't notice while I was there. They had me in and out in less than 15 minutes. I wish more things in life were that easy. Next time I am there I will take a look.

Good to see MD troopers taking care of the real criminals. We don't want them trying to stop petty things like Drugs and Gang Warfare which has turned Baltimore into the murder capital of the country. I say if you drive on the shoulder..shoot on sight.

Update: Judge I was assigned was a major bitch so I was advised to be out of town on friday. Will keep you all posted when I have a new trial date. Troopers Association called for their fundraiser, I told them to collect their donation at the Towson Courthouse.
