View Full Version : New to the forum, and BMW
sl4vik 06-22-2006, 08:21 PM Well, I recently totalled my 2005 VW GLI, and am now shopping for a BMW.
I am looking at 2001-2003 325Ci's and 330ci's.
Is there anything I need to watch out for?
Are these cars reliable? I know BMW has a history of electric problems..
Is 30,000 miles too much or is to fine.
Basically, I'm asking for your guys help for things I have to watch for. I plan on making a purchase soon.
Also what differences are there between the 2001-2003? I can't seem to find much online.
Last thing, I found this deal on autotrader:
2001 BMW 325Ci with sport package, xenon, premium sound, warranty 25K miles asking: 19,000. Good? Bad? Clean history, not repairs, etc..
How much actual difference between the 330 and 325, can u feel the power loss in the 325?
Thanks guys!

My advice to you is for you to have an Independent pre-purchase inspection preformed on any bimmer before any money changes hands. I've driven my bimmer seven years and have had no electrical problems but bimmers like all automobiles have some lemons in the herd. Just because it has a roundel on it doesn't make it a good deal. The pre-purchase inspection will tell you whats immediately wrong as well as whats about to go wrong in the miles to come. It's the single greatest investment you can make before you purchase any automobile even a BMW. The 2001 BMW 325Ci seems aslightly over priced at 19,000, I'd offer 17,000 and see if the seller is serious, but don't buy without an inspection and a clean car fax. Lastly, you can feel the power difference between the 330Ci and the 325Ci because the 330Ci has a bigger engine, more torque etc. Just my two and a half cents worth. Happy Motoring...

He is so right... I got lucky on my 323i and got all the dealer service records and they showed that all the common problems had been fixed and all major systems replaced as needed... My car drives like new at 77K miles...
