Jordan what are you doing on the e21 board - slumming?

Anyway, they do make MK II Golf Angel eyes, that can be adapted to the e21.
Do I like them...nope. I agree with you they are crap.

I think a guy by the name of davethedog on Tricord's forum has them. Check the thumbnails section of the owners' area. The car is Kashmir Metallic, has stretched tires, etc. They're not my taste, but I'd much rather see a restored e21 with angel eyes on the street than a busted e21 in a scrapyard...whatever 3.8l does with his car is fine with me as long as he keeps it on the road.

Okay, okay, I draw the line at ADR triple-tiered wings...

You’re going to get them whether you ask for them or not, it’s the way it is in a forum. I didn’t bash him for it but yes I did give an opinion when it was not asked, so I do apologize. If you really want them, I know a guy on here who sells a kit for the E30, which will work for our cars. I have no idea of the quality however. All we can suggest is guidance take it how you want, and don’t let us detour you from what you want to do to your car. After all variety is a good thing. Many people just have a strong opinion about this since its not period correct nor does it belong on any car but a "modern BMW", in fact I think it only belongs on the 5 series, but such is life. I honestly don’t think it will look bad but the fact that they would be on there bothers me in ways not easily explained.

I've made some weird decisions with my car before I knew anything about forums. People’s advice and guidance have led me to make my car better and more enjoyable. I assure you, if it was not for this forum my car would NOT be what it is today. There have been some times when people have not agreed with my choices, but as they say, it’s my choice, and I'll make that decision on my own merit.

Aren't you in australia? you have city lights on your car don't you? I really like the city lights, makes a similiar glow effect of the angel eyes but without the ring, and they belong on the car too boot....

Well said. But I recalled during 2003 you did ask about E30 angel eyes for E21 in this forum but I guess, yeah people can change.

I have my own opinion on this matter, I mean I don't really care much about period correct or whatever people want to call it, also BMW purist or whatever. Why we modify our car so much and spend alot of money and time on it (in the first place) if we really do worry much about period correct and purity... We might just go ahead and keep our car to an absolute standard. No aftermarket, no decent steering wheel, sports seat (E30 seat), sports wheel, LEDA suspension, coilovers (because it wasn't made during the period and because it isn't genuine BMW parts) or whatever you name it. Remember Jared's car...

Remember all these tuners (Zender, Kamei, Schnitzer, Alpina, Hella, so on) were considered aftermarket back in the days and in no way associated with BMW. We never blame and get sick of them because they've made nice parts and good-looking E21s the world has ever seen. If some small, not popular tuners made sh*t fugly parts we start bashing them, calling them riced out, not period correct, bla bla bla (take an example, the square headlight kit for E21).

Don't get me wrong but I do prefer E21 to be simple, clean and neat. Its just that I get sick with some people who bash others about their cars being riced out, not period correct or whatever while infact these people cars aren't period correct either.

I guess this is purely just a matter of how far/extreme you really want to go. It just a matter of what you want to make your car to be, do whatever makes you satisfied not others!

I guess instead of having to worry about this, its better to focus on how we appreciate our car, making it last longer on our road and make people aware of it.

Hi Joe.

The true Euro lights do not use H4 bulbs. (True Euro lights are what I sold you, along with the correct harness.) They are all H1's.

IIRC, and it was a long time ago, they have genuine BMW (Osram) bulbs, and the high beams have 100w, while the low have 55w. (I could be wrong, they may all have 55).

They are such a huge step up from sealed beams, the higher wattage bulbs are not really needed IMHO.

GOOD LUCK with the car, it is looking good!

blitzed310
06-22-2006, 08:55 PM
Joe not to go to far off tangent but do you know what E-code means? I never heard of the euros coming only in H1 form, so I can not vouch for this. But the only difference between an E-code H1 and H4 is the latching mechanism on the rear end of the light housing. They both have the same exact beam pattern. I also believe an H4 is going to throw a hotter light beam. Take that for what its worth. If you want to compare why must you wait till your car is running? From looking at your pic we have the same exact lights all the way around.

Well, I cant tell too much, the car is in the garage, and I cant see it that well. My dad's garage is not that big. I have never even driven it with the new headlights and what not, but I can tell you that they appear to be different from my old ones.

Duckryder got them from europe with the wiring harness and everything.
He paid a grip load for them, but the new guy who got his 323i wanted the single headlight setup so thats how I got them.

Fit right in place. I dont know about the US cars, but ours have seperate relays and fuses for the head lights (ie, each bank). The wire is already fairly thick on them, each high beam draws 12.5 amps, so given the wire fitted it would have been able to handle the increase in current. However, i didnt like trusting 20 year old wiring, so i picked up a roll of 15 amp wire and replaced the sections from the relay to the light, and checked the section from the relay to power.

Ive only got high beams, no way in hell i would replace the low beams with those too.

Crap pic (no flash, -1.7 exposure to reduce the flare), but it shows them working

Filament takes about 2-3 mins to totally cool down and go out after use, you cant put your hand within about a 6 inches of the light with them on, burn you otherwise (dont even think about touching the lense). Just a bit of a tip, the better the brand the longer the light will last, cheaper brands will see them burn out in a number of months, mine have been in for 3 years now with about 18 months of solid use. Live out in the country so bright lights are just so much better when driving home at night (especially because it lights up the side of the road so much better, so you can see animals before they leap out).

yeah, it's like, 600ft in Florida, which is about 200m, but honestly, who can judge 600ft at night? I agree with the second way of telling, but most people don't give a damn about anyone else...

200m is pretty easy. Its just courtesy to dip your lights to oncoming traffic as soon as possible.

I'll go out and take a picture of my city lights once I get the other bulb replaced...looks funky with only one on, then I'll wait for it to get dark and go snap a picture....

Should get dark about mid August....
