The car I just picked up (94 540i) has pretty heavy oxidation, and I've read throught the posts and found that my best option is the Klasse AIO.

My questions now are:

how much am I going to need (10 oz or 16.9 oz)?

What else should I get to go along with it (Klasses sealant glaze)?

anything else?

I'd post pics of the car, but I don't have "permission" yet, cause I don't have 25 posts or whatever.:(

p.s. I'm not looking to make it look brand new, I'm just trying to make it look better than it is...

You can get the smaller bottle. 1 oz. is enough to do a 3 series. Klasse SG is a great product to use after AIO and if you can, get a bigger bottle of that because you can layer it for a better effect. Buy at autogeek and get 10% off your order for being a BF.c member.

I would suggest doing a full cut polish and claying your car if you have heavy oxidation. The oxidation has to be removed so that you have a "clean slate" to begin applying your Klasse, otherwise you will be wasting product.

Cut polishing is usually done with a circular polisher.

Depending on how bad the oxidation is the AIO might not get rid of it. You don't need big sizes of either AIO or SG because a little goes a long way. You can use 1 oz of each on your 5 series and be fine. Depending on how much money you want to spend on spuplies you might wanna get a porter cable 7424 some pads and some polishes. It'll help cut through the oxidation/swirl marks/surface imperfections. Hope this helps...

OK, now that I can post links and what not...

I found this thread here:

http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=109044&highlight=oxidation

and about 1/3rd of the way down, there's a truck that's half Klasse'd. From what I understand, that's all he did to it... no clay, etc.

Well, my car looks bad, but probably not quite as bad as the unfinished part of that truck.

Anybody else think I need to "cut polish and clay"?? I will do it if it's needed.

That thread is 3 years old and he used yellow cutting pads (most abrasive) for his orbital porter cable and it took him 3 hours to do all that. Do you already have a PC?

No, but I'm planning on getting one prior to starting.
