hey guys

just bought a buffer/polisher...
i went to wax my car today and it did not come out good at all, i was wondering if you can tell me why?? my dad said it was to hot so the wax was drying out extremly fast which is why i couldn't get it off very well. i bought the buffer and it deff didn't take the wax off, just kinda spead it around more at first made the car look really hazy instead of shiny?

the was im using is mothers liquid wax, i rub it on manually with a soft pad, and then let dry to haze then buff it off?

could to much wax do this to?
anyone know why this may happen?

**today it was 95 degrees with high humidity - which is why i was wondering if it was to hot, and when i touched the car yes the panel/paint was hot! but i didn't think that mattered....:eyecrazy

Should have posted in "Show & Shine" forum.

But to answer your Q, yes, the combination of extreme heat and humidity could be the cause of this. Did you apply the wax in direct sunlight? If so, that could definately add to the problem. The car's surface should ALWAYS be cool to the touch when polishing/glazing/waxing.

I wax and buff all the time. Possibly to much wax, for ideal finish wax in shady area you can do it in the heat if you are quick also use a micro fiber cloth along with a terry cloth. Terry cloth to get the wax off and then followed by the micro fiber cloth for a streak free finish. Just wash the car off again and scrub it really good and then repeat with those tips. FYI- look for easy removal wax and you dont really have to let the wax sit on the car untill it is hazy. Just apply and the wipe off. Hope that helps.

rule # 0 you must not touch plastic or rubber trim on the car with wax (or you'll be very very sorry) Use 3M blue car tape to help cover parts up. rule #1 DO NOT LET THE WAX DRY!!! that is one big no no. you remember the moive "karate kid" remermber the famous words "wax on, wax off" ya, you do that right away and never let it dry. rule # 2 never wax during hot days or in direct sunlight. rule # 3 polish the car once a year (to get the excess wax build up off) rule # 4 do your homework, (use the search feature here) never do anything to your car unless your 110% sure whats up with whatever it is. like i.e. waxing a car!!! rule # 5 NEVER USE TERRY CLOTH TOWELS. ONLY USE MICROFIBER!! rule # 6 stay away from ricers, they some stupid evil folk.
