View Full Version : Just sharing - Sound Deadening from edesign
fullswing 06-15-2006, 12:45 PM Hey All,
Just wanted to share a few items I've used from this company.

I've used eDead v1 and v3. Relatively inexpensive vs Dynamat, etc. Good service, fast shipping.
No affiliation whatsoever.
Best,
FS

Hey J,
Doors - used the v3... easier than cutting a lot of pieces... on both the inside of the sheet metal and on the metal under the door panel. Had to clean the inside first free of debris (probably 24 yrs old), sand what I could see and paint with rusty metal primer.
Floors - I put v1 on the floors, but I painted it with a couple layers of primer first (after sanding and resealing the 4 round holes - used aluminum/metal sealer). After the v1, I put in heat shield material, then jute pad, then the carpet. Because of the curves on the floor, I made patterns using painters paper (thicker brown paper), then cut the v1 to fit. Also used the patterns for the jute pad. The v1 sticks but for the jute pad I used spray glue (high heat version for the firewall). The v3 would work there too.
You can look at a lot of install pics on the edesign site.
I also used v1 for the rear passenger panels, and v3 for the metal under the rear seats. I haven't done the trunk area yet.
One gallon can of v3 was enough for 2 layers each for the 2 doors and the rear seat area. Have to say I laid it on pretty thick, not spreading it out too much. Used cheap 2" brushes. Hardens after so I just threw them away.
Why all the sound/heat proofing? Blue won't be a track car... want it to be a comfortable daily driver even during SoCal summer months. Needless to say, the A/C is staying.
Hope this helped. The car isn't on the road yet, so I will re-evaluate if I need more soundproofing for the doors and rear. Pretty much done with the floor pan since I already put in the heatshield and jute pad.

Dood - your shades are too dark you can't read... :)

Hey - started on the suspension work yet? I'd like to see that as it's happening one of these weekends. Let me know, k? It'll be worth the drive. I may even bring a wrench or two... no, not those kind of wrenches... you already have a girlfriend and I'm married. Besides, your gf might beat me up... :D

You act like I read these post...? But yeah, I still need to come up with 1300 for the parts. I figure around early August I'll get to it. I have a new computer and TV to pay off, and a Vegas trip comming up. I'll let the LA guys know, I know Matt needs to come over and pick up his tripod.
