Got this in an email from my father. I know they did it last year and although I don't know how much of it is true I have seen a LOT of cops around lately. I saw 9 on the way home from work today (35-40 minute drive).

---

A Tip From A Jersey Trooper

NJ is starting up a 30 day speeding ticket rally. From what I hear, every trooper assigned to this has to hand out 1 ticket every 10 to 20 minutes. They will be focusing in around this area so watch out.
Here's what a New Jersey State trooper sent:

Starting today, New Jersey will launch a 30 day speeding ticket frenzy. The state estimates that 9 million dollars will be generated in speeding tickets. 1 million will go to pay state troopers' overtime.

There will 50 state troopers on duty at all times patrolling the 9 main intersections and highways. They are the following:

I-295 north and south
1-95 (Jersey Turnpike) north and south
1-80 east and west
I-287 north and south
I-78 east and west
1-195 east and west
1-280 east and west
Rt. 130 north and south
Garden State Parkway north and south

I'm warning everyone now that 5 mph above the limit can justify a ticket and every state trooper is supposed to pull a car over and write a ticket every 10 to 20 minutes. They have issued 30 brand new unmarked Crown Victoria cruisers and are bringing in all of their part timers on full time.

If you work in NJ, NY, DE or CT you will probably take one of these highways. It's up to you how fast you are going when they clock you.

101.5 FM confirmed all of this. So be safe and don't forget speeding tickets are on you. You've been warned."

Then the same friend, emailed me the following:

Driving Ticket fine increase in NJ:

Starting on August 15th, the price of a ticket for violation of NJ
Law39:3-29 (failure to show your driver's license, registration, or insurance card at the time you are stopped) is going from $44.00 to $173.00. Please make sure your vehicles have the proper documents in them.

If you jump in the car to run to the store and forget your wallet with your license in it and you are stopped.... Oh well...
you just spent
$173. And the fine for not having all three documents is $519!!!

Forward to people in NJ, and let them know of this change. And be careful, the fine for hand held cell phone use while driving will be going up to $180.00.

Not bad at all. I live in a nice small town and if you drive smart you don't get busted. Besides, most times if you are respectful you get a pass. I did have a trooper almost bust me tonight because I was reponding to a call and I passed him going 80 in a 45. He followed me to the firehouse and after the call he told me that my bimmer made 55 (the speed we are supposed to never exceed when responding) look like 80! LOL He told me I owe him a ride this weekend if he is around!

Speeding tickets should be the lowest possible priority. Maybe if speed limits were set at a reasonable level tickets would be warranted but not a current levels.

QFT. I hate speeding tickets. They are all bullshit. Cops need to spend their time busting other ppl for shit that matters.

wtf mate, why do cops worry about speeding people when they should care about people who sell drugs, and/or are violent. (killing, etc.)

This is definatly fake. I got this along with just about every NJ driver and talked to a Trooper friend of mine and he said the only thing that they are doing is Seatbelts.

while i believe that to be true! (not sure if the numbers are exact) there is also a ticket for not showing your insurance card. that is what the above is refering to. that would mean you have insurance and you are legit but say forgot the card in your wallet at home.

even if this email is a hoax, it doesn't really matter... rule #1 is always that there are more troopers out and more stops made during the summertime. Just watch out when you're out there and use your V1 if you have one. The warmer days are always a better chance for a ticket.

though the e-mail is bs, I did pass 8 state troopers on 78 this evening. the police are certainly out and about.

I have seen more people pulled over then normal lately. They are tricky with their instant on hiding behind bridges and what not. I see em all the time now. Keep an eye out everyone. :shifty Nothing but a bunch of crooks if you ask me. Organized crime at its best.

Well now that the Government's shut down and the cops and staties are working without pay, they're gonna be ticketing a lot more here in NJ.

I would figure the opposite, state police are employees just like anyone else.
