My aunt got a new Carrera 4 6-spd recently so today she and her husband were down in San Diego with it. She said take it for a drive and of course I obliged :) Well as you guys probably already know 911's are fun as hell, have a great driver orientated interior (pedals, rpm gauge, and shifter placement were perfect for me). Seats were very tall and comfortable. The 3.6 engine was great fun to drive and sounded glorious above 4k rpms when the variable valve timing came on. Brakes were very firm and strong reacting. Steering was spot on with good feel and turn in. Ride was firm but not bad, similar to an E46 M3 with 19 in. rims. Porsche, IMO is basically a more focused BMW with the engine in the wrong place. Though having that engine back there is awesome in the straight line, it hunkers down so hard under full throttle. Under fast shifts the clutch grabbed fantastic and the drivetrain felt very strong and tight. Through the turns it stayed very nice and stable, I could feel the front pull me thru the turns when feeding in the power with that AWD. The front end did feel lighter in the turns than what I am used to, not necessarily bad just different. I didn't play much with the interior gadgets but the navigation system and layout looked nice overall. Leather stitched dash while flat still had a nice quality to it and better than the 996's. Exterior looked great with 5-spoke wheels, a bit quiet but very pleasing to the eye.
Cons for me would be the steering wheel hung a bit too low so my knees would hit under shifts, even adjusted all the way up. I could probably practice to change for that. Very minimal room for your left foot though there is a dead pedal. I prefer RWD over AWD. I would prefer a shorter throw though for stock it wasn't too bad. I would still prefer a bit firmer tuning for the suspension. Overall the car rocked :buttrock
