Hi all, I just found about about this forum from my bro who is a veteran. I have an 88 M6, cinnibar (sp?) with grey leather, all options for the year.

My question is how to remove my radio and the panels around it. I have NO idea what so ever. The head unit I have in the car is a blaupunkt unit thats about 10 years old. Do i have to start at the HVAC panel and work my way down? Will have to start at the center console and work up? I'm completely cluessless. Any help would be great! Thanks.

Is it a detachable face unit? If so, remove the face and then there should be access hole on each side of the unit. These are usually for a tool just to grab the unit and pull out.

I just had to remove my stereo the other day and it was a pain in the arse. I may have taken the long and hard road on removal of my head unit but this is how I ended up taking it out.

Remove the 2 plastic caps at the rear of the E-brake console.
Loosen the 2 bolts inside and slide the assembly back.
Remove 4 screws from the side of your main console (2 on the glove box side, 2 on the drivers side.
Lift out the ash tray and there will be a screw up under the head unit too ( dunno if that has anything to do with holding it in, but I took it out =p )
Remove the boot on your gear shift (if manual like mine)
Slide the console back exposing 2 screws near the top of the stereo mount
Remove those 2 screws and then that face plate should be loose.

From there I unfastened the metal brackets and removed my head unit. It was a pain in the butt, but Its the same way I am going to take apart my dash and such when I rewire it. I suggest completly removing the driver side panel and also the glove box so its not in your way. Again like I said I did it the hard ass way probably but it worked for me =D
