it's the electronic type.4 HP 22 EH.when cold it slips or wont shift to the next gear, after warming up it's fine.have done all the electrical checks found in the ETM in the trans troubleshooting section.all check out fine.
before i give up on this trans i would like to try a different valve body to see if the symptoms change.anyone have a spare for testing,i'll send it back.
fluid on this one is clean and not burnt and i've cleaned the electrical connector at the trans.also the trans looks fairly clean like it's been out or swapped.
thanks dave

Just let me borrow it if you don't want to sell one.
It is after all just a test to see if anything different happens.Different symptoms from what I now have.

did get a valve body yesterday.the job isn't completed yet so i don't know yet if we have success.should know later today.
anyone have a spare light bar for the gear indicator in the inst cluster?some of the bulbs are burnt out and i can't tell if new bulbs can be soldered in.

Dave, hope you figured out the trans problem. What light bar problems are you talking about? My '80 has removeable bulbs (you just have to tear the whole friggin' dash out to get to them). Bill:mad :mad :mad

since this car is an automatic, there is a light bar(lower center of the inst cluster)that tells what gear you have selected.it is one unit, housing all the bulbs for P-R-N-D-3-2-1.a couple have burned out and don't pull out for replacement.doesn't look like new ones can be soldered.
