View Full Version : BMWCCA-LA Chapter Auto-x (Sun., Jun 18th)
jaramill 06-06-2006, 02:36 PM Just realized that our (Los Angeles) next autocross is scheduled on Father's day. Now had it been Mother's Day I'd panick but I KNOW dads want to come out an race.
Sunday, June 18th, at Hollywood Park - Inglewood (LA County), CA.
See the "Club Haus" section at the LA Chapter website (see my signature below) for the details in the autocross information sheet.

That is going to be a busy weekend for me. But we'll see I'll try and make it.. :buttrock
jaramill 06-12-2006, 03:48 PM Bump - Reminder it's this Sunday (Father's Day). That could be a good thing or bad depending upon how you look at it. Either the dads can say hey "it's my day to play". Or they have prior committments.

My dad will be in Vegas so count me in.

SilverBeam 06-14-2006, 02:21 PM I'd love to be there. But I love my dad more than I love an autocross. And I am one of three girls, so there is no way I'm getting him up there.
jaramill 06-14-2006, 02:24 PM No problem. Our next one is next month (July 16th) at California Speedway in Fontana (San Bernardino County).
SilverBeam 06-14-2006, 03:42 PM I'm actually an SDCCA member, would it cost me extra to run with the LA chapter?
jworms 06-15-2006, 01:34 PM whoa, a website redesign?! nice!
i might try to make this. it would be my first auto-x :)

Absolutely NOT!! :) I can't speak for any other chapter but in general all driving events (driving schools, autocross, car control clinics, etc...) that require membership is "national membership", not chapter specific.
Your membership card says you are a BMWCCA member, not a BMWCCA-San Diego chapter member. We welcome any outside chapter members (as I am from the LA chapter and frequently go down to San Diego, and in fact when I renewed my membership, I added San Diego as my co-chapter to my membership, so I receive their newsletter as well).

Yes we FINALLY redesigned our website to make it simpler. Well we welcome you to come on out. Should be fun. And the next after that is the following month (SD - July 8th, LA - July 16th). Busy month of autocrossing.
Sound Of Speed 06-15-2006, 03:31 PM I'll probably be there, but I won't be racing
Mpowered02 06-15-2006, 09:14 PM Was thinking about trying to make it to this AutoX. My team leader Hiep and a couple of other Tech from work are going and they've been trying to get me to go. Unfortunately, my car is in no condition for AutoX runs at the moment. My RTAB's are completely shot and i'm in dire need of some tires. Don't think i'll have time to get it ready for this weekend. :( Maybe i'll make it to the next one in July...
Just looked at the LA BMWCCA website...you guys did a great job with the updated site. Looks good. Just noticed that my work (South Bay BMW) is a Sponsor. Interesting...

Sorry to hear you can't make. LA Chapter is lucky to have actual professional BMW Certified mechanics actually doing tech inspections at our autocrosses. Hiep Nguyen will be there for sure. I'm sure you could co-drive with Hiep if he stays and you ask him. If not then make it out to the July autox at California Speedway.

FlyPenFly 06-16-2006, 11:32 AM Hmmmm maybe it's time to bring the new RX-7 GTUs :)
How's the venue compared to Qualcomm?
325racer 06-16-2006, 12:38 PM Is that Jame's car?

Flat with the surface being similar to Qualcomm but perhaps a bit degraded, but not bad for autcrossing as they've repaved some of the surfaces. Very little elevation changes though there is one section where you go over this small little bump/hill that's fun.
Everyone please enter on Gate 1 off of Prairie Ave.
FlyPenFly 06-16-2006, 02:51 PM Is that Jame's car?
Yup! Purchased it off of him!
maryt53 06-18-2006, 03:57 AM does it cost anything to go and watch? I know some venues charge just to get in. I went one last week at CA Speedway. Wasn't a BMW one, but it was fun to watch.
FlyPenFly 06-18-2006, 06:51 PM Should be free to watch, my ass overslept :(
boostedm3freak 06-18-2006, 07:24 PM ohh was it fun!!!!!!!!!! next time ill stay for the timed part

No it doesn't cost anything. Always free to watch at BMWCCA or SCCA autocross events. You just have to sign a waiver and wear a wristband.
Thanks to all who came out to support my chapter's autocross events.
