Guys-

I am sitting on an opportunity to relocate from Tokyo to NY with a new job opportunity.

While weighing out the possibilities, I am trying to calculate costs associated with picking up a 2004/2005 E46.

The downside to my current situation, is since I live outside the USA, I can't just pop in a NY address, and current insurance rates into one of those quote comparison sites, to figure out what insurance would run me.

Can any of you guys list up a ballpark figure of what you pay on full coverage---just so that I can get my hands around what I may be looking at...

(If it makes a difference, I am 34, married, no kids, looking to live in or near the city)

Any insights would be helpful.

if you live out in Long Island, it's actually pretty cheap. there's quite a few ppl here in NJ that have NY plates that has Long Island addresses.

the closer you are to the city, the more expensive it gets... exponentially.

That is interesting. My brother lives in Long Island....maybe I will have to use his address to register my car, and insurance---if that helps keep the rates down!

Only trouble with Cheap insurance..is when it comes to having them pay to have you car repaired properly if you ever do get into an accident.

I live in Manhattan and have a 99 M3. I have full coverage (including all the added options, windshield, etc.) through USAA and i'm paying $1008. If you are military, i don't think you can beat USAA for rates and service. Hope that helps.
