I need a huge huge favor...

Got popped by CHP on Saturday for "Entering Highway From Other Than An Approved Entrance" as it says on the ticket -- basically California Vehicle Code 21652.

http://law.onecle.com/california/vehicle/21652.html

I really need someone with a digital camera to cruise past the spot I got popped and snap a few photos (would help if you pulled over) so that I can see for myself if there were any solid white lines I crossed over. I can almost swear there aren't and that the area was freshly asphalted, which would indicate that they hadn't sprayed lines yet.

Anyone?

which freeway and entrance? I'm sure I'm less than 2 mins from any of them.

It was going around the cloverleaf from the 580W to the 680S. If you could pull over and get a few different shots of where the cloverleaf comes out on the 680S (where you merge out onto the freeway)...I need to know if there are white lines or glued down pylons there or anything...

Alan that'd be great. If you can grab a couple different angles it'd be great...maybe if traffic is almost zero (like it was when I was there this weekend) even stop in the median and shoot back towards the ramp. I need to see how tall and defined that curb is!

I really appreciate it.

I drive that stretch daily...don't know that I have EVER seen it with little traffic on it though. It's ALWAYS awful.

If you can give me more speicifcs as to what section I may be able to take care of it for ya, it's a relatively long merge.

Rich, I'm referring to right where the 580W cloverleaf comes out up above itself onto the 680S. There is a curb there (the cloverleaf is higher than the surface of the 680S) that I need to find out the approximate height of, and also if there are any markings such as a solid white line, or plastic pylons glued to the roadway, or especially missing plastic pylons.

If you can tell that the road was recently repaved and/or the white lines are very recently sprayed, or especially if there are any brand-new looking plastic pylons, that would be great.

I drive past there everyday and I know exactly what you're talking about. There SHOULD be pylons along the entire entrance but there are LARGE gaps where pylons are missing. I see people cut in early (over a white line) almost on a weekly basis. Sorry to say bro, but this is going to be hard to fight.

So you say you see people cutting in early over a white line DOWN the curb and onto the freeway on a regular basis?

And if there are any pylons could you break them all off, sandblast all the paint off THEN take pictures. That would be better.

Nah, I don't need to fight the ticket and win it, I just need them to offer me traffic school.

you can't merge onto 680 until you pass the 580 E onramp but closer to stoneridge. What were you doing up here? The lines are faded in some spots but i'm sure there are those cone things all the way across the length of the bridge and after that it's just lines. There are missing cones tho.

I see people do it on a regular basis, usually when they're stuck behind a semi. Use that as you will. :devillook

Where'd I get the info? I drive past it on my commute everyday. I see someone do what you did on a pretty regular basis. I took note today though, the line isn't faded anywhere that I could see, but there ARE significant breaks in teh pylons...
