NOCTURNAL 06-04-2006, 06:33 PM Jon, what motivated you to organize something like bimmerfest? It's a great thing that you're doing here, uniting the bmw community. Keep up the good work, your work is appreciated.

Bimmerfest actually began as a sort of customer appreciation day combined with an opportunity for the members of www.Bimmer.org (http://www.Bimmer.org) (pre-Toadfly) to meet face-to-face after chatting on the message boards. Up until 2003 I was the General Sales Manager of Cutter BMW. Not to toot my own horn, but in the 90's I was one of the pioneers of online retailing, perhaps the first to attack it in the BMW market. I literally sold hundreds of BMWs on the forums, and the first Bimmerfest gathering was really just an opportunity for me to give something back to the community. In 2003 I retired from the car business after 18 years, and completed the graduate training in Clinical Psychology that I bailed on in the early 80's. Bimmerfest has taken on a life of its own, and I am very honored by the growth and popularity that the event has experienced. When I visit the forums and read threads like the "Bimmerfest Pump-Up Thread" that was posted here a few months ago I get the biggest shit-eating grin on my face. I am a diehard 45-year-old BMW enthusiast, and I am stoked to know that so many people enjoy the event as much as I do... :)

Jon Shafer 06-05-2006, 12:53 AM Thanks for all of the positive feedback -- it really means a lot to me...
As JP said, Chris Savasta of Alter Productions should have the DVD finished shortly. As you can see from the trailer, it figures to kick some serious a$$!
Speaking of which, check out page 4 of the PBMW article. I don't want to post the whole thing and bum out the editor (they've got to sell a few mags)... :)

Hey Jon it looks like a great time!!
I was speaking to Tim Jones from performance.ix the other day,

Any chance of ever doing one around New England??
