Thinking about getting my truck tinted before I move down, as i can get a hella deal on it up here, just curious what the law is down in Atlanta?

its 35% now as my friend had to get his reduced from 20 to 35. I believe is is 35 on the front 2 windows and the rear 5 (rear 2, rear 1/4 panel 2, and rear window 1) can be any tint. Front windshield can have NO tint on it. Correct me if Im wrong.

I cna't have a tint strip across the top? Thats gay.

i think you can on the top, but check the amount at a local tint shop. ill have my friend check cause he has to go back and get one window redone.

so, the consensus is, for a guy wiht a pickup truck, which isn't loud, and don't plan on driving like an idiot, I should be fine with pretty much whatever I want?

From what I've seen yes... My friend bought his volvo in NY and it had some serious tint on it.. So far the only time he has been warned about it is by an off duty guy just letting him know of the new laws.

my M3 has 20%... and its very loud... never had a problem.. go with 20% and you should have no problem.... and yes you can get a strip on the windshield... why dont you just call me and i would have told you :)

A lot of the Vette guys have had problems with tint laws locally. I had 20% on my Vette and it was DARK at night. I never got a ticket even with a highly modded 600hp yellow Z06. However with the M3 I went legal 35% front 20% rear and it's still plenty dark even with a grey interior.

Most places will, Most shops could care less what the "laws" are, they are just making more money and thats all they care about. Just go to the less popular places, like I doubt TNT tinting would do it (though they do great jobs) , but a local shop probally would.

Anywhere will do 20%. Tell them you are trailoring the car and only using it in shows. They dont know and they dont care. Its you thats getting tix from the police down the road, not them. They will cover their buts by not attaching the legal tint sticker to your window.

There is a legal tint sticker? whats it look like?

Certificate Requirements
Manufacturers of film need to certify the film they sell in the state. Ask your dealer if they are using ceritified film.

The sticker to identify legal tinting is required on the windshield.

tint laws are getting strict in many states being ~30-35% and most require either an affixed sticker or some sort of paper showing legal tint application by a company. You can always claim you purchased the tint off ebay or something and installed it yourself but you still will get the ticket. Application of tint yourself is also not legal though....

(e) No person shall install any material upon the windshields or windows of any motor vehicle, the installation of which would result in a reduction of light transmission or an increase in light reflectance in violation of subsection (b) of this Code section.

Well I got a ticket 2 weeks ago, and the pig told me 32% was the ligal here in GA.

I got 3% all around, I'm going to have to fixed it before go to court or the fine will be set by the judge.:mad

Anywhere will do 20% like I said before, they dont care. They just wont put a sticker on the window. If you know of a place that will do it and give you a sticker, they are risking getting caught. 35% isnt that bad and you only have to have it on the driver window.....

I dunno, I like the front windshield done, but only if it's 8-9 inches long, 6 looks too short IMO.

Mine was tested at 23% by Mr. Policeman a few months ago. He gave me a warning for that and the smoked license plate cover.

I tried to get mine done 20% last year at Custom Sun Control in Marietta (I ended up with a fantastic 35% tint job, BTW) and they would not do it. I offered extra money, I offered not to tell anyone. They said no. They said even the places that will do the work wouldn't offer any warranty with it and they wouldn't provide me an invoice of any kind.

I spent $300 on that tint, it'd be nice to have it fixed under warranty if something happens to it.
