you have to remember though, that still has plastic cladding on the front fenders, side skits, rear bumper, front bumper, and hood. Cant really tell what the car looks like from that

What's up with the fender gap? Can you say '4x4'?

Anyone know the base price for the e-92 m3? I placed an order for an 06 330i but I would love to get the m3. I wish it was already out.

I dont like the way this car is shaping up... nothing about it except for the "test wheels" and the back-end screams "M POWER" or says "400 HP V8". Yeah i know its nowhere near what it will look like in production but unless they tucked the fender flares away under the plastic its just a 400hp v8 in a 3 series body. The e36 was the only body style m3 without the flares and it just barely pulled it off beause the lines of that car are soooo sleek. BMW has gone a little too far off the farm with this one. Maybe if they lowered the profile a bit, flared the fenders more (rear, i know the front actually has some), and gave it a more agressive stance isntead of the "4x4" lift(who the hell would make an awd M3...) they would get somewhere. This has always been a beefier looking car with harder lines and bulkier flares. Its a good start, the only problem is, this is more like the end unless they push back the release i think we may have like 4-6 months left until its available.I dont like this new designer. Hell i think some of the photoshops look better and some of them even look like something that BMW could put into production... oh man i dont want to see the GTR version of this thing...why is this happening? I will say one thing, wow they have done a good job of keeping the final version under raps. I mean there are only a few months left and still no one know what this thing is actually going to look like.

ken vs ryu: the powerplant is a 400hp v8 that is basically the M5 v10 with 2 cylinders chopped off. this is done so that both cars will share most of their engine parts in order to save money...needless to say the add pistons/remove pistons from the same engine layout concept is not a good one and I am extremely pissed. I am sure plenty of r&d went into this decision but I know the r&d said build a new motor, its the cost effectiveness of mass producing supercars that seems to be the problem. For what they will be charging for the e92, its stupid to consider this a cost effective project. The m3 has been inches away from breaking into the supercar ranks and now we're moving backwards. I doubt ferrari/porsche/lambo/aston would simply chop off a few pistons for the motor of their FLAGSHIP cars. This isnt just some performance package. Its an M3!!!!!!!!!!! If there is one car in BMW's lineup that deserves more, its the M3. At this point, I am proud to have been an e36 M3 owner and proud to be an e46 M3 owner but if things continue on their current path, I will not become an e92 owner. But we'll see how things go, if the powerplant turns out be worth anything F/I boost wise maybe i'll throw one into my e46.

In the end I am still praying for some miracle to happen or be hiding under the plastic claddding.

Guys, this is a test mule, the body probably looks nothing like the final version. In fact, it looks exactly like the coupe, with the ///m engine, suspension, etc. I think its funny how people judge the final car based on these types of spy shots....

What if that isn't the M3 body, maybe they put the m3 in a 3 coupe with m bumpers. The wheels are obviously bbs lms in the front and rcs or rgts in the rear. There will not be that fender gap when its said and done, much less tire profile and larger wheels.

if the new 335i is turbo, wouldn't it be wayyyy easy to bump the power output higher than an m3 ?

Although I hope I'm wrong, I highly suspect that the final version will look a lot like that in terms of fender shape. The fronts are clearly flaired, and the rears seem to have a very subtle flair to them vs. the regular coupe.

Like the e46 M3, it will really NEED to be lowered and rolling on some fat 19's to look OK.

I wish they had flared the rear fenders more, and incorporated even more of a lipped trunk lid, a la the CSL. The rear needs more drama/style. The changes in the rear are too subtle vs. the regular coupe.

Overall, I'd say BMW dropped the ball here . . .
