I waited a few days to see if the search button came back, but it hasnt yet. my airbag light came on a few days ago and hasnt went off. I havent messed with anything on the car lately so i dont know what the problem might be. the searching i did do said it might be a seatbelt sensor or something. is there any way to reset it other than with a tool or at the dealer? what sets the light off that i could check on? i tried unhooking the battery for a couple hours to see if it would reset anything, but it didnt. thanks for any advice you have.

A failure in the seatbelt latches is not uncommon, as is a failure of the occupancy sensor in the passenger seat. But it could be anything (bad airbag, slip ring, crash sensor, etc). Have the SRS codes read out and you'll have a better idea as to what's failed.

A dealer or BMW indie can read the codes. And some auto parts houses may be able to read them. After the repairs you'll have to have someone reset the fault(s) before the SRS warning light will go out.

Can autozone read these type of errors?

any car dealership will able to read the fault, all they have to do is hook up comp to ur car, most of the time its a passenger seat sensor that gives that kind of an error, erasing the fault error wont mkae the light go off, it will still comeback the only way to make it go away is to change the sensor.
