I am looking to replace 4 shocks on my 98 528i. I really don't want to go aftermarket as my wife uses this vehicle as a daily driver. For some reason it is incredibly difficult to find OEM replacement shocks for this car online. The car has the sport package (w/sport suspension). Can anyone recommend an economical vendor/distributor? I am hoping not to have to go through the stealership.

TIA for any suggestions.

bavarian autosport www.bavauto.com, or bimmerparts.com will have the parts- you'll need to determine which suspension you have, regular or sport.

bavauto is too expensive.. use them as a last resort. pelicanparts.com ftw

I have to agree. in this instance Bavauto have good price on Sachs $80 a piece for fronts. Sach is pretty much a OEM replacement.

Thanks for the replies and advice. I didn't even think to check bavauto since they are normally so overpriced but you guys are right, their prices on the sachs shocks are very reasonable.

Last question, what other components would you replace? I am thinking of the RSM's, but are there any other necessary parts/materials that should be addressed when changing out all 4 shocks?

TIA
