In about four months my e34 M5 will go up for sale. It's just not fast enough:) . I've just bought an Alpina B10 Biturbo. Here are pics of the car:http://www.euromcars.com/91alpb10/
Here's a little info on the Alpina biturbo if you haven't heard of one before: http://www.fantasycars.com/sedans/html/alpbiturbo.html
It'll show up here on July 11th and then it'll take about two months to make it DOT/EPA legal for Cali. It's going to be a long three month.

The car has 156k on it
The tranny has 60k on factory replacement
The engine has about 12k on top notch rebuild
The Dinan Stg. 2 has about 4k
The Alpina Wheels will be extra, I still have the turbines
All the suspenion working bits(control arms, bushings, tie rods) have 4k on them

She's a great runnig machine. I haven't decided on a price yet

I just ordered a new dash. The old one is shrinking a little. When I sell a car I like for it to be as perfect as I can.

Pics of M5 interior?

Also, I'd like to hear about the federalization process. How hard is it to get them to pass? I'd be REALLY interested in getting a Bi-Turbo about a year from now.

The Alpina is stunning, congrats. When you get it, you should post a thread about the process you went through to import and federalize it. Seems to be a topic that many, including myself, are curious about, but few go through. In the meantime, I'll trade you my 540/6 and my first born for your M5.;)

This will be my first try at the federalization process. If things go smooth my partner an I are going to bring in as many rare euro cars as we can.

In the meantime, I'll trade you my 540/6 and my first born for your M5.

Is your first born 18 and female?:D

It's 5:30am and I'm getting ready to drive to San Diego for four days. I'll be away from a computer. To see my interior go to euromcars.com. Iy's on his page as sold.

I had always heard the b10's cant be federalized. Simply too rare, no acceptable procedure, and they puke polutants

That bi-turbo is a total sleeper. No badging other than the front valence.

The M5 is stunning for sure.. But I test drove a M5 and the 540 isnt that much difference to give up your first born. No doubt M5 is the pinnacle of E34 however 540/6 is just slightly behind.

From my driving impression of an M5...
M5 have more power but it is in the upper range of rev.. 540 v8 will have more low end torque and more usable power on the street. You have to drive the M5 aggressively to tap into the power, where as 540 is a relaxed grunt of power. Get a EAT chip if you dont have one.. 540 will be about 15 hp shy of a M5 but 10 ft lb torque gain on an M5.

You're right, the 540 is nearly an M5 in most cases except the sensory portion. When the wick is lit on an S38 there's nothing like it. The 540 is more like the e39 M5 where it's all Luxo until you nail it. The M5 is a bit faster overall but the 540 is easier and more sedate to drive around town... but it's no M-car. The M5 has no traction control or any of that B.S.. But, $5-6k cheaper doesn't hurt either.

Regarding Federalizing cars, we have no emissions testing in Maine and a 1991 title except law meaning any car older than 1991 doesn't require a title. I could walk in and register a 1990 or older euro freak and no one would even notice. Next year it'll be 1991 excempt and things will get interesting:redspot

That B10 is something I'd whistle at! Seats look sweet and you gotta love the Alpina digital instuments.

I hear ya on the 3.6 not being fast enough. What's the story on your 540i 6?

My E34 540i 6 was blown with a 13 lb flywheel. It was cool most of the time because it was so quiet. But when you hammered it down it would scare the hell out of you. It was all you could do to get the car going straight again after exiting one corner and trying to turn in to the next. But it is lacking that incrimental fine tuning that the S38's and other M engines have.

Wow,
Nice rig. That is fabulous. Look forward to seeing it around some of the Bay Area events. I'd really like to see that car in-person.

Just a look at those pics, thats a EML(electronic throttle) car also, that is extremely rare indeed.

Late chime in here...been out of town.

Let me vouch for Gregs M5. I've driven it and it is a bullet. Who ever gets this car will not be dissapointed, it was built right. It is one of the fastest E34M5's in the USA.

Start saving your lunch money now fellas.
