Or you can drive the route we used to do on the North GA mountain runs and save yourself 4 hours of boring highway roads.

My little brother went off the side of the Dragon, cracked some ribs, and nearly died. I try to stay away from that place. :)

sorry to hear. Was he on a bike or in a car?

I got back on monday from a 10 day trip up there and put a couple thousand miles on the car. I shreaded a set of tires and had a great time.

I didn't see any car accidents, but I did see 8 or 9 bikes go off. I'll stick to 4 tires and a cage :)

i wrecked my mr2 up there when a motorcycle was apexing a corner into my lane. I could have chose A) kill biker or B) swerve to the right and wreck the car. Either way my car would have been F'ed

Plus, if i go, im gauranteed atleast 1 ticket and I just had to pay a 500 dollar ticket wednesday. Even though i really want to go, i think ill stay behind because I just cant trust myself to not speed.

Plus i would be taking the bike anyway....

you can take fun roads to deals gap, but its easier to take the highway and save the "fun" for the less traveled tighter roads. I dislike the N. GA mountains because they are too open. *pushing a little* there means lots of 3rd and 4th gear. high in 4th gear at times. Way too damn fast for anywhere, especially a public anwhere with oncoming traffic, blind corners, cliffs, etc...
even 180 is too open. deals gap is tight enough to make *pushing it* more of a 40mph and under event for the most part. If you screw up in a car, its expensive, but you're not dead. Its also a significantly more challenging than any road in N. GA.

When I would frequent Deal's Gap with the GT peeps, we'd convoy up via interstates. Usually with the cruise control set at around 8 over the posted limit. No tickets, but multiple wrecked cars. Also no serious injuries.

I hate to burst your bubble but there is no hell. :D

I easily would have killed the guy. He was probably doing 50+, i was doing 50 slowing down from 90mph.

I know who the biker was that i would have hit. When i had my car sitting in the parking lot while i was ripping off the front bumper (I put it on the 'tree of shame') the ONLY person that came over and looked at it was a guy in leathers that matched the person on the bikes leathers that i had to swerve to miss. I was really pissed off because he came over and was like, the dragon bit you didnt it. I didnt say anything back because if i said anything at all it was going to be in the form of an ass beating.

I'm not sure what happened there with my triple or quadruple post. Crazy computer...user. Anyways, The skyway and the Dragon were excellent. A good bit of bike traffic on the Dragon, but nowhere else. 68, 165/143/ and a lot of 129 was very open. The Dragon just had to be timed right and some patience had to be used. Overall an awesome Saturday of driving. I saw three guys from Charlotte in there Bimmers. Unfortunately didn't get a chance to talk to them face to face. We were too busy driving.

I went with the M coupe/Roadster group a few months ago. Such a blast to be up there. I think they go twice a yr...one coming up in a few mths. Start a thread with sign ups and ETA of date and people will start replying. Hopefully, my suspension set up will be done by the next big trip.

I am up for going again. I hope to have my car back tomorrow, and put on the exhaust then too. I prefer to go during the week, but might could go on a weekend. I know I should be off next week on day, because I will be working on saturday. But, I might be up for this weekend also.

Post when you are available, or if you want to go midweek I can, just let me know what day so I can ask off that day.

the one downside is that they are repaving the NC side of the Hill. It is not that much, but will going on for the rest of this month, and into the first week or so of Aug. This should make next spring, or late fall drives great, since the NC side was in dire need of a repaving.

Most everyone drives back same day. I know all of the TN people do, it is only about 1-2 hours depending which way I drive, if it be mountain roads, or haighway.
