Well, as many may know, I am converting my beautiful e36 into a track car, or atleast those are my plans. That means I will probably end up looking for a daily driver. I just found this on Craigslist. It looks to be in pretty good condition for a 2002.

Whatcha think, or should I stick to a late year e30 instead?

Sure, why not? I don't think it's worth that much though.

for ~$3500, I'd find a *dead*-ish E36 325is and turn that into the track car. pretty cars that become track cars aren't pretty for long...

The e36 would be faster, too. A LOT faster.

My philosophy is: You can only have one of three types of car.. Race, show, and street. To make a car do 2 is almost imposible. The best thing is to figure out what you want the car to be before you spend a dime. I know a lot of people have made their street car a track car.. But that costs a lot more money than if you just bought a POS for a track car.

There are many things that can change such "rules". Sure, I have a street car, but I wouldn't really call it that. Yes, I dropped some money into the looks, but I am not concerned about that right now. First, I have a 3.91 diff, which most people would not consider "streetable". Second, I am already getting destroyed in insurance and if I don't get this racing charge pulled, I might as well quit driving for 5 years. The recent occurance with the law is the main reason I am doing all this. If that would have not happened, I would not be looking for a daily driver this summer. Since I put all the time and money into this car, I do not want to sell it either. I doubt I will get anywhere near the amount back, so I think it should end up on the track.

Actually you are going along with my philosophy.. You are thinking about making a car "dedicated to the track" not just making a street car second as a race car. I think you are heading in the right direction.. I just hope you find something that you like as a daily driver.
