View Full Version : How do you drop a car in PS? ///M3///M5 05-26-2006, 02:39 AM As title states :D WTFCIRCUS 05-26-2006, 03:40 AM I knew this question would be asked one day so heres my in depth tutorial. Original Image http://img118.imageshack.us/img118/4263/start7xf.jpg Lasso the image http://img101.imageshack.us/img101/9940/lasso2vw.jpg Duplicate the Selected Layer http://img101.imageshack.us/img101/6445/copy7mu.jpg Crop the top of the image http://img101.imageshack.us/img101/350/crop2jk.jpg Erase around the red marked areas for a clean drop. http://img101.imageshack.us/img101/1852/erase9lu.jpg End http://img101.imageshack.us/img101/883/finish1yk.jpg lovesm3s 05-26-2006, 03:42 AM i bet you can't raise a car WTFCIRCUS 05-26-2006, 03:45 AM wanna bet? addnon 05-26-2006, 10:03 AM Also, if you want to maintain the image dimension you could use the clone stamp instead of cropping it. ///M3///M5 05-26-2006, 10:04 AM Why do you crop the top of the image? addnon 05-26-2006, 10:05 AM Why do you crop the top of the image? because when you move the new layer down, the old background is still in place. Let me see if I can upload something to show you what I mean. addnon 05-26-2006, 10:09 AM Ok check this out. Look at the part in the yellow box espicially by the roof of the house. It is replicated and out of place. Thats why you need to crop it or use the clone stamp (the clone stamp isn't recommended for beginners). http://stlhood.com/nonsiterelated2/bmow/baddrop.jpg ///M3///M5 05-26-2006, 10:30 AM Ok check this out. The-Great-328ic 05-26-2006, 10:48 AM because you're only messing with the upper part addnon 05-26-2006, 12:44 PM Why does it not do the same thing at the bottom of the new layer? most of the time it will, but its less noticable because usually the ground is all one shade. if it isn't I blend it also. WTFCIRCUS 05-26-2006, 12:48 PM Actually you don't even have to clone it cause sometimes you can just erase the top part but only sometimes. I would clone it but I don't usually feel like doing that so I crop it off. Shudogg 05-26-2006, 01:25 PM if you have pshop CS2 you can heal the empty part with out having the duplicated look that the stamp tool gives you...CS2 ftw, its sick Goat128 05-26-2006, 04:16 PM I bet you guys don't know how to drop the front more than the rear ;) lol norcalbmw 05-26-2006, 05:24 PM I bet you guys don't know how to drop the front more than the rear ;) lol uh, rotate it.... Goat128 05-26-2006, 05:29 PM uh, rotate it.... cali ppl not allowed to answer lol. jk yeah rotate or skew etc. sometimes it depends on the angel of the shot and you cant really rotate it. norcalbmw 05-26-2006, 05:34 PM like so http://img114.imageshack.us/img114/5658/fasdahghagh7oc.jpg norcalbmw 05-26-2006, 05:41 PM and heres the raised one, just for fun hah http://img146.imageshack.us/img146/6711/raised0td.jpg ///M318i/// 05-26-2006, 05:50 PM you guys are pimps but ps on windows just say no buy a mac rockyfozz 05-26-2006, 05:55 PM are you guys like graphic designers or something, because i have cs2 but dont know where to start. I have watched the tutorial video and its just like someone is speaking to me in another language. Is all of this self taught if so how long does it take to master it. Or even to just photoshop my car without asking someone else to do it? addnon 05-26-2006, 07:19 PM are you guys like graphic designers or something, because i have cs2 but dont know where to start. I have watched the tutorial video and its just like someone is speaking to me in another language. Is all of this self taught if so how long does it take to master it. Or even to just photoshop my car without asking someone else to do it? you just have be interested and have ALOT of free time on your hands. I really dont think it took me THAT long to figure the program out. ZLUJ 05-26-2006, 09:41 PM the best advice somone could give you to learn PS well, is just ot mess around with pictures.....im good at photoshopping cars, but relaly good at photoshopping faces!!! give me an ugly who*e and ill make her beautiful :) WTFCIRCUS 05-27-2006, 12:39 AM You just have to have fun with it I took a class in HS but didn't get good at it till I got Photoshop and started playing around with it here and there. Look for tutorials and follow them they help alot. Tuff Guy 05-27-2006, 12:44 AM damn you guys are good roush611 05-27-2006, 12:08 PM what lasso tool did you use? everytime i use the magnitical one it does not allow me to select the whole top for me to do that i would have to select the whole top of the picture is that what you are supposed to do? WTFCIRCUS 05-28-2006, 04:12 AM I use Polygonal Lasso. Magnetic and regular Lasso sucks. rockyfozz 05-28-2006, 12:43 PM the best advice somone could give you to learn PS well, is just ot mess around with pictures.....im good at photoshopping cars, but relaly good at photoshopping faces!!! give me an ugly who*e and ill make her beautiful :) Go on then!!! I have watched the tutorial video and its just like someone is speaking to me in another language. Is all of this self taught if so how long does it take to master it. Or even to just photoshop my car without asking someone else to do it? just takes time...Sit down and just mess with things until you get a feel for it. Thats how we all learn. Tutorials and such wont help until you get the basics down. And the best way to get the basics is just do it. Your not going to hurt the program. You can always just opt NOT to save the image you play with....Plus make sure you play around a lot with layering. Thats where the magic comes in! 95werksm3 07-13-2006, 02:03 PM I would also suggest using the pen tool to make selections, it's alot more precise than using the lasso. Just my two cents. nickMANDERFIELD 07-14-2006, 01:43 AM this is a case where software piracy is bad, anyone and their grandparents can pick up cs2 for free and then not know how to use it search google for 'photoshop tutorial' and do as many as you can fit into your schedule, the non-car related ones are the ones that will help you the most, it will give you a real-use for that 'huge' box of tools and that 'insane' list of filters ///M3Augy 01-19-2007, 02:18 PM How do you duplicate the selected area...its not working for me... neocloud 01-19-2007, 02:53 PM CTRL C, then CTRL V, it will make a new layer with your copied pixels Or you can select the area(lasso or retangle..whatever you use to select the area) then you use the move tool and hold down alt and just drag it...That will duplicate it, but it wont be on a seperate layer. I like the copy paste method better. I use 1000s of layers on most of my custom work. I like to be able to see different things and patterns and just click the view icon on the layers table to see what works and what doesnt. I am attaching a pic of the tool just in case you dont know which one it is! its marked in red.... http://a529.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/38/l_1c3464ffc6a52b2390dfb089480ebca8.jpg neocloud 01-19-2007, 02:54 PM this is a case where software piracy is bad, anyone and their grandparents can pick up cs2 for free and then not know how to use it ya but piracy for --1337-- peeps such as myself is good. Saves my ass $100s of dollars...not saying I pirate... yea... ///M3Augy 01-19-2007, 02:57 PM ^^Thanks man I will see if I can do this now! Its been pissing me off for like an hour. neocloud 01-19-2007, 03:03 PM haha ya, thats computers for ya! good luck addnon 01-19-2007, 07:50 PM you can always hit me up on AIM if you have anymore questions Jrocket 01-20-2007, 08:18 PM I tried to follow those steps, but it seems there must be more to it.Im no PS guy thats for sure. neocloud 01-21-2007, 03:09 AM he forgot to tell you HOW to drop the car... After you duplicate the image, just pull the new layer image down a little bit...using the same tool i have in red up there ^^^^^ THEN crop the top of the pic... Jrocket 01-21-2007, 06:21 PM I still couldnt get it.PS aint by gig I guess.:D neocloud 01-22-2007, 01:17 AM it takes patience....most of your time will be lasso-ing...it takes forever sometimes...
