Just wanted to know what you have planned and in store for us come January. I for one am spoiled with the positive displacement blower that I have onteh z3. I know it isnt a beast but i wasnt looking for a rocket sled. Any way do you have ideas for boost? Will you have stages? I cant think of a better way to ask this , but will it compete against the AA turbo cars?

if so, what time frame? jan 2003 as well?
thanks!

Guys,
As far as "competing with XX or YY".. all I can say is that the
design of these kits is such that they'll have no competition.
To put it another way, and to quote someone who's identity has
long been lost to posterity:
Horsepower sells (engines), but Torque wins races.
Fixed displacement/Intercooled superchargers are the choice
of all the upper-end OEMs and there's a reason for it.
Take your torque graph, and lift it upwards.
That's the reason :D
The design goal of any kit with which I'm involved is to provide
greater power, speed, and operating flexibility, without giving
up the OEM feel. I don't tune for, nor do I pander to what I
can affectionately call the "mo powa squad".
No offense, but that's one of the big reasons I stopped working
with/for such "tuners".
The key to making a "supercar" is being able to get from point
A to point B, fast as snot, but also effortlessly.
That's the design goal
Jim
PS: As far as "fitting" on this or that, the chargers are designed
to fit the motors, a test fit will be needed on a Z to assure final
fit.

dare i ask? will it be carb certified?

CARB certification will be up to the hardware people.
Price likewise, although I can say it will be "competitive" :D
Guys, I really didn't even want to mention the S/C, except
that a lot of you are/were waiting on a "Jim C tuned" kit
via Evosport, and that isn't going to (ever) happen.
However the whole "Jim C tuned" thing IS gonna happen! :)

wow - the man himself is really going to do it! I was waiting for your new software tuned for my Rogue Exhaust but now I'll have to wait for the real goods to come in. :D

Jim:
Have you done any tuning work on stroked small 6's? This may sound naive but I am thinking of trying an S52 with a 96mm crank and stock bore. The idea is more torque lower in the RPM. Any idea whether I can safely sc such a motor?
I would also welcome any input as to your opinion on SC vs turbo applications i.e. AA turbo application. I know they both lay down excellent power, so my question concerns longevity in daily driving applications. I apologize in advance if this appears uninformed. I am still learning the BMW thing. Thanks for your patients.

Are you going to have a custom crank made?
Make sure it's well balanced, because if not, you'll run afoul of
the roughness/misfire detection.
FWIW, I no longer "do" custom tuning, simply because of time
limitations.

Yes, the crank will be custom 96mm stroke made by fandon in the UK. this is the same company that supplied Hartje and RDSport in the US with their cranks. I am told they are very reliable. They have built me one before.
No more custom tuning? No exceptions? If not you ...then who?
Now I am bummed!:bawl
