cluch... emissions... and he thinks he's got a vanos issue so he dumped it quick. that's about $10K right there.

i'm looking for a 500E.. yes, it's a bit older but it's like wedging a M5 motor in a 318ti.... think about it. :D

I'd compare it more to E34 with a higher HP V8 and a slushbox. Its a fantastic car, no doubt, but its still a mid-size sedan. They're even tougher to find than E34 m5s though.

I'm gonna have to go with the blue - silver and black or so common, I don't think I've seen a blue E39 M5 in seattle yet.

LeMans Blue or Imola Red, if you want something other than black/silver/grey...but IMHO nothing can touch Carbon Black on an M5 or M3.

Oh, and instead of a M5, I'd suggest a S54 MZ3 Coupe. Faster than the M5 and much less maint.

322 hp and 345 lbs of torque (about.. i think). i dunno but slush or not, that kind of power in a not-so-heavy-yet-not-so-light body is good with me. plus, it looks so damn sexy!

The e34 540 made 282hp and 295 ft-lbs stock, while the 3.8L M5 made 340hp and 295lb-ft stock. (of course, the M5 gets about half the gas mileage of the 540...)

But, hey, this is about the e39 M5, a powerhouse of V-8 muscle.

it's a crazy car and last of the best i tell ya. AMG is no longer "exclusive".

The entire car was assembled in Zuffenhausen on the old 959 line.
After the 959 production Porsche had empty manufacturing capacity and a deal was struck with MBZ.
Back then AMG wasn't part of the deal.
Porsche was given carte blanche in the MBZ parts bin.
The engine and brakes were lifted from the 500SL,
Porsche modified the fuel injection, suspension, etc.
MBZ gave final approval and did the paint.
Everything else was hand assembled by Porsche.
My buddys car has 122K on the clock and it runs like a bullet.

He wants a E34M5 and I want a 500E.:D

Black is a nightmare to maintain. Remember that. Maybe I am suffering from a case of "the grass is always greener on the other side" because I really want le mans or imola :(
