If anyone wants to assist I'll be at the auto hobby shop replacing the center driveshaft bearing on the M5. Probably take a few hours as the entire exhaust system has to come out to get to it....yippeeeee:eyecrazy

Everything on the M5 has given me nothing but grief when I go to replace it, install it, etc. This was no exception. I get to the hobby shop at 9ish, by 0930 I had the exhaust off and was ready to start removing the driveshaft. Then it happened, the 18mm bolt that holds the two peice driveshaft together decided it didnt want to come out. I had read that this bolt would be tough getting out and would fight till the last thread, well my bolt decided not to come out at all, instead it decided to snap off. Great. So I then proceed to get the driveshaft the rest of the way out, which was easy. This whole job wouldve taken maybe two hours if the bolt hadnt broke, instead it took more like 7. We had to go get drill bits and an easy out. Nothing worked, the easy out failed miserably, we even tried heating it to red hot, no dice. I ended up drilling it out as bid as I dared then ran a tap thru it to clean out the threads. But it is back together and doesnt make the wooooeeeewooooeee sound anymore :) Big thanks to calvin for being my transportation and helping on the reinstall.

ah yeah, those things can be a bitch.

Now I'm glad my car has a gigantic 26 mm nut instead. It pays to have big nuts!

Alright! Looks like you'll be prepared for this when you get to VA.
